Which Of These 2 Cues Would You Buy??

I've been searching for a while for a new cue to buy. It had to be from Amnazon as I have about 325.00 in Amazon giftcards and then I was chipping in about 300 of my own money to get a decent little cue. I've narrowed it down from like a million cues to these two... However, I like them both ALOT and I was looking for opinions on which one you would buy if it were you. I don't care if your opinion is based on the hit or just the looks as they are both important to me. What I do know is that it will be one of these two...

The Mezz ZZ-33 http://www.amazon.com/Mezz-ZZ-33-19...qid=1392134454&sr=8-15&keywords=mezz+pool+cue

or....

The Schon CX-02 http://www.amazon.com/Schon-CX02-Cu...TF8&qid=1392135104&sr=8-1&keywords=schon+cx02 (There is no zoom on Amazon for this cue but you can google larger images if need be)

The difference in price is the Schon CX-02 is 575.00 and the Mezz ZZ-33 is 603.00. They are extremely different but both beautiful cues in their own ways. What would you choose and why? I'm making my decision and buying it today but figured I would asks ome opinions first.

**NOTE** My third option was the Schon CX-37 but it has these dinky pieces of ivory and red stained maple triangles. I love the grey stain on it but I just don't know that it is worth 640.00 considering what you are getting with it... If anyone is a fan of that cue though, feel free to chime in on why you would get that one.

Thanks alot.

You can't go wrong with either choice. Neither will play better than the other. Unless you can shoot with them both, nothing anyone says here will make that decision for you.

If it were me, I'd get the Mezz because I already have a Schon and I like CaPao.

But you see how my silly reasons have no bearing on your situation.

Freddie <~~~ or I'd get the CX

You can try putting up the gift card up for a value of say 275 cash and your 300 and post something in the For Sale/ Wanted forum. Also check on craigslist for any takers for the card.

Amazon is as good as cash as many people shop there anyway, it's not like a gift card to Gregs Waffle House and Paint.

75% of a gift card value is probably the going rate for a cash trade for one.

Unfortunately, I don't think he can trade the cards, as I thought he said in another post that they are linked to his account.

Out of the 2 cues you listed, I like the Schon more, but if I can chime in on another cue in your price range... I really like looks of the Mezz zz-32. Just mentioning that to make sure you've seen it as ultimately it is your personal preference that matters, as both manufacturers offer quality products.

For playability I would go with the MEZZ.
I have hit with several Mezz cues with the WD700 shaft and all I can say is WOW they hit the ball like a freight train...................

I'm torn....I much prefer the maple in the fore-arm on the Schon....
..( Gus Szamboti was particular about the fore-arm for a great hit )

but I love the feel of that white joint-collar on the Mezz...
...the looks? not so much....a plain jane with lip-stick.

I like the Mezz but with a different wrap, should play great. Schon has too much gingerbread for my taste, and have heard the older ones play better.

You've heard this?
Ok, now I'm telling you they both play the same or close enough to be considered your standard average difference from cue to cue under the same brand name.
I have several 80's Schon's and several of the newer ones.
Out of all those I use a 1999 Schon 18.7 oz by far the most.
Now that you heard this you can say that you heard they both play the same or close enough with no preference to either.

I'd go with the Sugartree. Um wait, what were the choices again? J/k. Im thinking Schon over Mezz.

Chris

I have never hit with a Mezz... but they do have a good reputation.

But I own a Schon CX03. Mine is an older one with cocobolo and grey-ish granite inlays rather than rosewood points with turquoise. I would not have bought the rosewood/turquoise one. I've hit with some older and other model Schons and the hit is quite consistent from cue to cue.

You really can't go wrong with a Schon.

In that price class, you may also want to consider an OB. Something like this perhaps: http://www.amazon.com/OB-Cues-OB-13...e=UTF8&qid=1392218894&sr=8-14&keywords=ob+cue

Cues

In my opinion the Mezz would be my choice, my style and likes favor the Mezz, I have played with old and new Schons and several Mezz cue and currently play with Mezz shafts on a Woodworth cue. Schon is pretty but I think the Mezz out plays a Schon. Just my opinion> But only you can make the decision can't really go wrong with either.

i have the same schon with a ob classic pro shaft with a kamuii SS black clear. plays great and looks great. the stock shaft and tip play well, I just like the ob.

I have 2 schons, one from 1993 and this one you are looking at. I interchange the shafts and can't tell a difference. both play great.

I've heard about the mezz cues and how great they play but I don't like the way it looks or the mezz logo. looks cheap.

Both are good cues...but you REALLY should read the threads here about the latest restrictions on Ivory. In your shoes, I'd probably be looking for a cue without Ivory, going for fancier wood inlays instead.

i like the look of the schon. A random opinion...if you decide on the schon, I would personally select more purchasing options and buy from pooldawg instead. Pooldawg is great about discussing options not available on the amazon store front and making changes. i.e. I bought my cue on amazon from pooldawg and wanted a weight that was not listed or standard for the model cue I had and they said the would change the weight before it shipped at no additional charge. They also answered many questions I had about options and costs if I wanted additional changes (like different tip or wrap et al) and were very polite and quick with their responses. The seller listed on the link you provided may do that as well (or even better) but I have no experience with their customer service. My opinion is based on what I have experience with.

Not to come across as a smart ^~ but for that money I'd search the wanted/for sale forum. You could get a solid custom cue for that money.

If I had to choose between a Schon and a Mezz I'd go with Schon simply because I own one and have not played with a Mezz.

He's got an Amazon gift card burning a hole in his pocket.

I like the Mezz better since it's more unique and doesn't have a bunch of rounded off inlays. It's advertised as rosewood, probably Indian rosewood. There are green inlays too (malachite) that don't show up well in the Amazon photos. Here you can do a close up:

http://www.pooldawg.com/product/mezz-zz33-pool-cue

it's also advertised as a low squirt cue - I don't know about that claim.
