I've been searching for a while for a new cue to buy. It had to be from Amnazon as I have about 325.00 in Amazon giftcards and then I was chipping in about 300 of my own money to get a decent little cue. I've narrowed it down from like a million cues to these two... However, I like them both ALOT and I was looking for opinions on which one you would buy if it were you. I don't care if your opinion is based on the hit or just the looks as they are both important to me. What I do know is that it will be one of these two...

The Mezz ZZ-33 http://www.amazon.com/Mezz-ZZ-33-19...qid=1392134454&sr=8-15&keywords=mezz+pool+cue

or....

The Schon CX-02 http://www.amazon.com/Schon-CX02-Cu...TF8&qid=1392135104&sr=8-1&keywords=schon+cx02 (There is no zoom on Amazon for this cue but you can google larger images if need be)

The difference in price is the Schon CX-02 is 575.00 and the Mezz ZZ-33 is 603.00. They are extremely different but both beautiful cues in their own ways. What would you choose and why? I'm making my decision and buying it today but figured I would asks ome opinions first.

**NOTE** My third option was the Schon CX-37 but it has these dinky pieces of ivory and red stained maple triangles. I love the grey stain on it but I just don't know that it is worth 640.00 considering what you are getting with it... If anyone is a fan of that cue though, feel free to chime in on why you would get that one.

Thanks alot.

Personally, I like the looks of the Schon better, and I like the fact that they are made in America...however, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about your cue.

If you pick a Schon based on the stain, make sure the seller knows this and you confirm what color/stain the cue you'll get is...Schon varies the stain from cue to cue, within the same model. I like the Schon better, but it's really a wash...Mezz cues play jam up, too.

I too vote Schon, but they are both nice looking cues, hard to go wrong either way.

oh, i wasnt choosing the cue based on the stain. I was just saying that for me, buying these cues includes playability but also does include the look because I can spend a few hundred less and still get the same playability. I picked these because they are sharp looking cues. The only thing I don't like about the Mezz is the white wrap...

Irish linen wraps in general have never been my thing. My pechauer is a wrapless so its thicker in the butt area because of the several layers of clear coat and that bothers me because I feel like it may impact the way I play since this butt will most likely be thinner.

Schon gets my vote...The CX-37 would be my choice but the CX-02 is a good looking cue as well.

what do u like about the cx-37? just the stain? I love the stain but I just cannot stand how small they made those ivory inlay triangles and then the red stained maple triangles as well. I wish they would have been a bit bigger or just not been there at all... lol.

Over all I've just always liked that cue...the other one that I like in that series is the cx16....obviously if you dont like the looks of it then its not for you. The good thing about Schons is they are very consistent in their hit...Im not going to say that all Schons hit the same but they all hit pretty damn good..

Have you played with either brand? The Mezz looks like it comes with an LD shaft, have you played with one before?

I think of the two, going by brand only, I'd go with the Schon.

Very close, I'm thinking. The Mezz have a steel joint? The only one I've played with did and I really don't know that much about them. If I remember right, the hit was a lot like Schon.

Edit: I just checked the links and I'd go with the Mezz if you can afford it. I don't care much for steel joints but that's just me.

Go with which ever one you like the look of best. They are both going to play just fine. You may however want to check out the for sale forum here first. With $600 you can buy a lot more cue for your money than either of those two on Amazon.

If I remember right he has a gift card from Amazon or something and he's adding a few bucks to get a cue

yeah the cx16 is a nice cue as well. And yes, you are right... I am using a combination of 325.00 amazon giftcards and 300 of my own money for a cue. I know that I can get more cue than that for the money if I spend it here but unless someone here is posting their cues for sale on Amazon, I have to go with one of these two :). I also like the Schon R7 Sneaky but there arent any on Amazon and for the price of them I'd rather go with one of these two any way.

I like the Schon, but dang those MEZZ cues feel great and play JAM up. Also resale better.

ill be honest.... I was really digging the Mezz. This Rosewood (at least to me) looks really really nice. Its a bit "plain" but I think its very different looking. That being said.... The Schon is a very sharp looking cue. The way it looks is alot of ppl like the look of Schon more but the people that are liking the Mezz really like it because it plays really nice?

I would just go with the one that YOU like best and know you're getting a good cue either way you go...There is no cat to let out of the bag, both of those cues are great. At this point it boils down to which one appeals to you the most.

You can try putting up the gift card up for a value of say 275 cash and your 300 and post something in the For Sale/ Wanted forum. Also check on craigslist for any takers for the card.

Amazon is as good as cash as many people shop there anyway, it's not like a gift card to Gregs Waffle House and Paint.

75% of a gift card value is probably the going rate for a cash trade for one.

I like the Mezz but with a different wrap, should play great. Schon has too much gingerbread for my taste, and have heard the older ones play better.
