Whitten Case Weight? Recommendations?

I'm trying to find out the weight of a Whitten cue case - 3x5 or 3x6 ideally, but knowing how much a 2x4 weighs would also be helpful. If you don't have a scale handy, perhaps you can tell me if it's lighter or heavier than some other case of similar size/capacity.
Here's my situation: I ride a motorcycle everywhere, and I play pool roughly 7 days a week. So, I nearly always have a cue case slung diagonally across my back (kinda like an arrow quiver). I currently carry an Instroke 3x5, which is nice and sturdy but a bit heavy. Plus, like most cue cases, it doesn't hang very well over your back with the strap on the side. The fact that Whittens have the strap on the back is another attractive feature for me. I've considered Murnak since they have the double strap to wear like a backpack, but I think it might hang too low to be sitting down while "wearing" it.
I welcome any and all recommendations for a high quality, lightweight cue case that's ammenable to a motorcycle rider.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,

My new Whitten 3x6 with all the bells & whistles weighs 7lbs (including the travel foam).

Hi Brian,

My message box has plenty of room, but I didn't receive any pm. Nonetheless, I checked out your website and I must say you make some fantastic looking cases! I especially like the sewn evelope style with the strap. As it happens, I'm also kind of looking for a 1x1 or 1x2 that's small and simple (i.e. incognito ;) ).

Cheers!

Charlie and Corey,

Much thanks for the info. I had heard Whittens were light, but wow!
One question though, what exactly is "travel foam"?

The foam they put in the pockets so the case keeps its shape during shipping.

Butterwheel... I also have an Instroke 3x5 (Buffalo)... has been my regular case... but I just bought a Whitten 2x4 (42F) (mine is a custom due to the oversized length for my 60" cue)... and I also ride as you can see by my avatar... and during the summer, I also carry my cue case quiver-style on my Harley... and although I haven't weighed my two cases, I can tell you that the Whitten 2x4 is quite a bit lighter... and will also not hold as much equipment as the Instroke 3x5... which is one of the prime reasons that I bought a Whitten... lighter weight... that, and it's simply a beautiful case (brown embossed lizard print with brown trim).

Buy a Whitten... you won't be dissapointed. ;)

And if you do buy a Whitten, leave the travel foam in place... and simply cut out chunks of it to match what you want to put in the pouch (chalk, tapper, tip tool, jump stick butt, etc.)... and that'll preserve the show quality of your case... just an idea that was passed on to me from Joe Whitten.

Jack Justis is definitly lighter than a Dan Whitten.

If you ride a motorcycle, you may want to consider getting a case with thicker leather, such as that used on a Jack Justis. It is the lightest among the high end cases, and offer excellent protection as well as look and prestige.
