Yes. twice. Both were warned many times.

Only Once..........

Once in Florida while hustling pool, I was winning about $150 from a tough looking guy and had heard from the barmaid that he sometimes liked to fight when he looses. Had I known this before hand, I would have never played him.
After making a 9-Ball, I saw him coming at me with the butt end of the cue. I was ready with my brass/aluminum knucks and split a nice gash over his left eye that knocked him out.

TY & GL, OHB

I did hit a guy... twice... but it was denting my fender... after that I just ran him over instead. Though not as gratifying, it was much easier on the ride.

Wow! OHB knows how to handle himself, huh?

How do you think OHB has got to this point in his life?:D

When you hit a person, it is assault.

You can go to jail for this. In real life (not a movie or a video game), people many times get medical injuries which can last 6 months or longer.

If teeth are broken, it can cost a young fortune to get them fixed.

I have seen many fights over stupid silly things. Both people are hurt with injuries which cost thousands of dollars in medical bills (does not matter who is right and who is in the wrong, they both get hurt), and both wind up in jail.

Then they have legal problems for many months. It is not fun to have a court case hanging over your head. Then not good for renting apartments or getting a job if you have a criminal record. Do this 3 times in some states and you are looking at life.

Also I like to wear hats and the baliff will yell at me when I wear my hat into court. - A voice of experience:(

It does happen quite often here in Singapore.
I have gotten my foot stepped on before, committed fouls or miscues due to someone pushing me from behind and other things.... It happens always when I was down cueing for a shot..imagine how frustrating that can be.....

If I were to hit them, I would prolly be put away in jail for a few decades. :p

End of the day, what else can I do? They are mostly people who play pool prolly once or twice in a year and do not have that awareness of other people beside their pool tables.

I hope by all of us posting here on the past few threads the past 2 weeks that we have all remembered/learned something..alcohol plays the biggest roll in these incidents...that's exactly why i try to avoid the night life in my older years...20 years ago i was involved in a very quick brutal fight..a drunk guy started kicking me and instinctively i hit him with the palm of my hand almost driving his nose into his brain..the ambulance came and took him to the hospital..for 45 minutes he was unconcious and he finally came too with no permanent injuries...but it was rough waiting to know if he was going to die...bottom line whether we feel justified in hitting someone to try to knock SOME sense into them the advice by Billy Bob is well stated..Now lets hear somemore of your life stories..

I"m not a big fighter, or get pissed all that much, not worth it. When I was about 10, I was playing with my next door friends who were identical twins, 1 girl, 1 boy. They started giving me crap about being fat, which I was, being a fat kid SUX! So we yelled and got all upset, and like Cartman, I said screw you guys, I'm going home. 5 minutes later a knock at the door, I opened it and CRACK! before I knew it I threw a quick left jab and knocked "Carrie" on her butt!!!!! Oh NO I thought it was Howard the other twin!!! She had a bloody nose and everything. I felt REALLY bad.

Took me a long time to live that one down....but not many girls called me fat anymore:)

Just an FYI identical twins cannot be different genders.....

I must disagree.

Identical twins are BORN the same gender. Does not mean they can not have gender reassignment surgery later on in life. There was a story on Dateline/ Frontline or some news program just a few months ago of another identical twin that had this procedure.

most likely it is assault and battery as the two are rarely seperated. assault is just verbal and as soon as you touch that person it becomes battery. even if you don't say anything but pick up a pool cue with the intent to smack the guy with it then smack him it is assault and battery. fyi - if you are going to do that - DO NOT USE YOUR OWN CUE!

Nope... I grew up quite a long time ago, actually.

While kids in school sometimes have guns, adults have a lot more guns. Fighting as an adult is stupid. They can, and some will, shoot you and kill you. I think I am a little above settling things with my fists. I don't frequent establishments where business owners do not control unruly customers.

That being said, I have studied Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido, and am well prepared to defend myself if someone insists on attacking me. Funnily enough, noone has ever started a physical altercation with me since I started studying martial arts. But no, I've never hit someone first.

Assault can be either verbal or by action. You're right, picking up a pool cue while cursing someone and approaching them with it can legally be considered assault.

Heck, depending on how popular/unpopular your assailant is with the police, getting up in your face and saying "do something, punk!" can be considered assault.

Actually, it is both. Assault is any sort of threat of physical harm. This could be verbal ("I'm gonna kick your ass"), or non-verbal (such as getting in someones face, rearing back to punch, or, of course, actually punching them).

Battery is once it has become physical.

So punching someone constitutes both assault and battery.
