Who are the GREAT UNKNOWN Cuemakers

Another AZer who does some extremely good cue making, although he still only puts out 10-12 per year, is Joe Callaluca (JoeC on AZ). As Guycrunch... I have had 3-4 of his cues, plus he did my conversion of a Predator and is currently converting a Hoppe for me. Just absolutely excellent, top notch work.

Here is an example...my playing cue which started life as an early Predator sneaky....

What type of machinery is he using CNC or Panograph?

You know, I am just not sure. You can PM him (JoeC). He will get back to you with specifics.

> I can second the motion about Bill Webb. The one I have is a purpleheart 6 pointer with maple and purpleheart veneers, and curly maple points. I have no idea how he did it,or if I'm the only one that sees it,but it looks like he even got the maple veneer's grain pattern and coloring to match the inside point. I set this cue right beside a SW that was also purpleheart with curly points, and there was no comparison,Bill's blew it away. His veneer seams are right down the middle like they should be,on all the veneers, and the ends are within 1/16 of each other on the long and short points. The best way I can describe how the cue plays,is to tell you that if you like the hit of a Josey,a flat-faced Gilbert,or Mike Webb, you'll like these cues. I'm not saying his cues are better or worse than these cuemakers, just that the playability characteristics are similar, that being quite stiff, yet easy to move the ball around with, and very solid feeling. Mine gives me a sense of "heftyness" when I play with it,even though the butt dimensions are pretty close to my Schon, and isn't noticably heavier weightwise. It's also one of the quietest cues I've ever owned as far as sound feedback, but the sound it does make is nice. Tommy D.
