Who best to head a new Players org?

The Obvioius One is the BCA

A new Pro Players organization is needed imo. One that will crawl at first, then walk, then run hopefully to the point of meaningfully sanctioning events. The leader should be someone with brains and business acumen. Some college would be a plus and indicate at least SOME intelligence off the pool table but there are plenty of no college guys with lots of brains. Some educated guys are off their rocker also so chose carefully.

Player Ranking or pool ability should definitely NOT play a part in the selection process.

Who's your pick?

The BCA is the warehouse for the rules and are the trade organization. Its obvious that they should lead the way for an Amateur organization which would be flush with funds and from that Amateur Organization there could be support for Pro Pool which in turn they dole out in ways to best benefit the Industry as a whole.

All of this would mean that they could make sure that Pro Players engaged in promoting the sport.

If they were to do this....how much Amateur Support do you suppose they would have?

Not really. Did you see how the players lined up like ducks for Trudeau when he flashed the money before their eyes?
There's only one thing that will keep them in line and organized, and that's money --- Lots of it.
Without the promise of money, they will act up, rebel, argue and walk away, regardless of who takes over the controls. Learn from history.
What happened to that guy and his events?
I thought it was a great idea...sure got a lot of attention. (especially seeing guys like Champagne Eddie playing again, etc.etc.)

You cannot leave those who created the problem in charge of fixing it.

Not my quote but it fits...

We already have a few very large and well organized player organizations - the national leagues. I'm sure that if they could make a business out of growing the professional side of pool, they would. If the pros want more success, then they need to provide a ton of value - such as promoting products or drawing crowds and followers.
