who can fade this guy on a bar table?

About five years ago, I heard it from good authority, i.e., a barbox legendary player, that in his opinion Jesse Bowman just may be the best barbox player in the country. :)

When he made a cameo appearance at the 2005 Super Billiards Expo on the action table, he succeeded in winning a nice chunk of change.

Here's a Jesse picture. I had originally photoshopped it to protect Jesse's road player staus at the time, but now with the advent of Internet technology, UStream, YouTube, et cetera, he's a well-known entity.. :grin-square:

Damn this guy is a beast on the barbox. How does he play on a 9footer?

I've had the honor of playing Jesse on a barbox - he is a super tough opponent and one of the nicest and most gracious people you will ever meet.

Jesse is no doubt one of the best, but I don't think he would want any part of Shane on a bar box or any table for that matter.

If ever there was a training video on how to play Bar Box 9-ball…this is it. This is on a Diamond with pretty slow cloth. Jesse Bowman shows the text book way of playing 9-ball on a Bar Box. Thanks to the excellent video from Bigtuck most will pick up the reasons Jesse Bowman is one of the top BB players in the country. If anyone wants to play better on a BB they should watch this match 3 times and call me in the morning. It’s just what the BB Doctor ordered. Johnnyt

I would have to disagree with you there. Jesse missed a few balls, made some position errors, and got a little careless with the cue ball a few times. And when Jesse did miss, most of the time he got pretty fortunate and left Gabe no shot, or off-angle combinations, etc. Jesse did play some great safeties and made some great kick shots though.

In a race to 11 it looks like Jesse shot an 800-something Accustats scoring wise. Jesse is capable of playing way better than what you saw in this video.

I agree. I should have said something on the rolls and that this wasn't the best he can play. What can be learned still is that he plays what the table gives him and knows if he can hit the next ball full he will make it. There are no long shots on a BB. There are a few other things to learn also. Johnnyt

This was the late night tourny after the main event. All day long in a smokey pool room will wear you down. In my opinion, this was not Jesse's "A" game. He played some outstanding matches that weekend.

By the way, those tables are not slow. I don't know how they hit the ball so hard and controlled the rock so well. Shane McMinn played the same way. I rarely witnessed a slow roll from any of the top players.

I would love to see Bowman vs SVB race to 150 or 200 on a BB for the next TAR event.
