Who here has a cue in the works or is waiting for one to be completed?

The guy you talked to was probably Sorin.. he doesn't work there anymore, it's just Ernie... I've asked Ernie about his opinion on a few things and he has said to me, and I quote: "I don't like them but if thats what you want that's what you get." so if you want those hot pink veneers I'm pretty sure he'd make you one that was pinktastic.

Yeah, Sorin, that's his name. Like I said, it wasn't really a complaint as much as a not so great comment. I've dealt with Ernie numerous times and found him to be fantastic each time. If anyone was to ask me if they should order a cue from Ernie or not I would not hesitate to tell them they should.

On Order

I have 2 South West's on order, original order February 2004 was told 7 years then. I am waiting patiently for the day when Laurie calls to finalize designs. She wouldn't take any money down.

Rick Howard

I have a 8 point ebony with snakewood and ivory points on order. I was told it should be a couple more months which would make it around a year or so. Nice to deal with and I have no complaints. I would recomend him. Can't wait to see the cue. I will post pictures when I can.

Ebony, Snakewood, and Ivory should look nice......... Rick builds one hell of a cue. Congrats

i have a SW on order, nothing on paper just a request. Were friends so someday it will pop up, last one was pretty fast this one has been a while, i'm in no hurry, last time I was and Laurie hooked me up-it still took years.

I usually dont order cues from cue makers, I know them and sometimes they ask me if I want something sometimes I say yes some times I turn them down, I could flip them at a profit but I dont believe in doing that-its not my business, so when I buy a cue from a cue maker that is offered to me I keep it, period. Now if its something I ordered and for what ever reason dont want it, I sell it for cost. I let the cue makers, or dealer's have the profit-its amazing the favors you get for giving a little. Good-will is something that is scarce in pool but it sure goes along way, so I'm a nice guy like that.

Its funny how the haters who have such strong opinions about me seem to be the least informed about me, ask around about what I said above.:)

any custom cue is a great cue, congrats. Its not a contest to see who has the best cue on order, dont play it down, hell I didnt know what a custom cue was until I played for about 1.5 years everyday, where I played they didnt exist and the internet wasnt invented by Al Gore yet so I didnt know any better, good for you!!!

i'll do it for $20 ;)

actually I wont be out that way for a while but if I do get there I wont forget to sak, I did last time and he didnt have anything to show me but he was busy and it was a while back. If I get there before you get it I'll get a cel phone pic for you, I'll be glad to, I have been sweating this out with you for along time.

Also a while back you posted some pics of that pool room you play in, your a great photographer, sometime you should start a thread again with those pics, with all the pool rooms dieing off it would be great to share the pics of a old school hardcore room, some players dont even know what that would look like. not that I have been around so long but over the 25 years I have been around I did see back in the 80's some awesome rooms that I wish I had pics of, I thought about taking pics but didnt-man do I regret that, even stupid snap shots would be better than nothing.

I have a Troy Downey on order from last year. Due to me on 10/31 this year. Fair amount of ivory and plenty of inlays yet to come. Communication is practically day to day.

You are right.

I meant not much, as in pretty simple.

Hell, for a while I didn't even like points. Now all I do is sit and look at all the pretty pictures in the gallery and the for sale area wishing :( I had about 2,000 available to spend....lol

Things to consider in your reply:
- Who is making it for you?
- How long have you been waiting?
- How long is the usual wait?
- Has the overall experience been positive? (including communication)

  1. Jim Lee of J&D Customs
  2. 1 Month
  3. 3-4 Months
  4. The experience has been extremely positive. I'm not usually one to be over-zealous about someone else, but read this thread for how I really feel!

Communication has been great. This is the first of my three cues that I'm really looking forward to because I'm enjoying the wait.

I've got a four on order...

1. Dennis Searing. He's been great to deal with, has answered my questions when he was available to do so, and I'll be a VERY happy camper by summer/fall timeframe!!!! :) :) :) I got to take a day and visit him when I was in Florida last summer. He even offered to let me pick out my own woods for my cue. I was expecting a 1 hour pow-wow with him on that Saturday...and it turned into a 7 hour visit. That man LOVES to talk about pool and cues!!!

2. Steve Klein. Ordered a 2nd cue from him before my first was all the way completed. Steve's been great, and puts together one hell of a great cue. Super nice guy, and I should have my 2nd cue from him around Valley Forge time next year.

3. Masonh. Got on his list in March. Looking at around a year, give or take. Again...very easy to talk to....and he's gonna do something special for me. Should see it sometime next year (right, Mason??? ;) )

4. Joel Hercek. I spoke to Joel a couple years ago, and we got along well. He agreed to take me on as a customer...with the understanding that I was going to the back of the line. I told him I was fine with that, as long as the end result would be a Hercek piloted SS joint cue. He said, "consider it done, Mark." I may be waiting another year....or 5 more years. Regardless, it'll be worth it.

I am having Steve Lomax build me Dufferin house cue conversion sneaky that should be here sometime around the first of next week. Steve does top notch work as most of you know that have seen him in the Blackburn booth at many tournaments around the country. My cue will be 60" with black and silver accent rings at the joint and the butt. The blank is an ebony dufferin with the single white butterfly veneer.

For a basic 400.00 cue these come with quite a bit of dressup and they play lights out. Steve is a member here, his username is stevel if anyone wants to contact him about a cue. He also makes the best pure jump cue I have ever tried. Shannon Daulton uses one (mine now) and has a new one on the way.

Anyone looking for a great playing cue without breaking the bank or that may need some top notch cue mechanic work should get in touch with Steve.
