Who is left in the 9 Ball at Derby City?

We must take the good with the bad. Jayson plays as good as anyone has ever played the game and we all saw it coming early on. When the spot light shines on the greats we may see traits that bother us or we may notice things that further propel champions into hero status.

IMHO the sport could use another hero and heroes must also take the good with the bad. If Jayson was snapping the wing balls then it would have been all good.

No body likes to lose but no one can win all the time. Learn to take it like a champion.

Clearly Jason is an amazing talent and having a great year. But I think its a little bit of an overstatement to say that he plays the game "as good as anyone has ever played the game".

There are numerous examples of champions in all sports that handle losing better than Shaw (or Earl).

There is absolutely no evidence that says in order to be the best you must care about winning so much that you can't handle losing.

And there are just as many champions on each side of the coin. For every Cal Ripken, there is a Ty Cobb. Just the way it is. Who knows if this is the only way they can play. How their DNA is set up, or what is rattling around in their brains.

i don't mind it so much on the pro level, there is a lot more at stake. But, on the amateur level it gets a bit ridiculous.

Agree. I was simply making the point that being a poor loser isn't necessary in becoming a champion.

A decider?

This has to set the stage for a decider and if I had the money I would attempt to get them in a 3 day 10 Ball marathon.

Race to 100, winner breaks. Have to win by 2 games.

Neutral racker with only 3 re racks per player per day.

No jump cues or jump shots.

Each player allowed 2 breaks a day.

It would be a winner takes 80 percent and looser takes 20 percent shoot out.

I would hire that Ken guy to ref and want Jay Helfert and Bobby "Cotton" in the booth, telling stories and trying to figure out something to comment on. LOL

No jumping on table and poor sportsmanship fines!

Right after the Orcullo marathon match (the one he lost) I go out to get a beer. Shane and DO are behind me. DO is visible disappointed losing to Melling. DO mentions something about Shaw. Shane tells him to get Melling and Shaw and they would play them for 10K.

Great matches. ALL of the final 8 could have won the whole thing.

Yup. And I doubt being a poor sport means you care more about losing than good sports. It just means you have less self-control.

Shaw is just a sore loser.
No, there's quite a bit more to the situation than that.

It is unfortunate that there was not a neutral racker when they got down to ten tables or so. It would have be relatively easy to do. Rack your own will always have problems at nine ball.

Well tell us about the rest of the situation.

I believe that picture shows it. Shane was clearly manipulating the rack beyond the intent of the rules. He left a blatantly large gap that almost anyone would say is notb"trying to get the balls tight".

Whether that is cheating, gaming the system, or fair is, in my opinion, in the eyes of the beholder unless rules specifically address it.

The video shows that or you saw Jayson's picture? I thought the wing ball didnt go in 100 mph unless they were all frozen? Isn't the wing ball flying in the complaint on the magic rack etc?;

As long as people keep sending money to promotors for 9 ball tournaments...they will keep playing 9 ball. Don't buy the stream or come see it live.. or.they will never play 10 ball. Johnnyt

I am taking the picture as a legitimate image of Shane's rack.
