Who is the best player you ever beat?

OK, we've had all the best player on AZ and rate yourself threads but I thought this might be a better indication of each players true rating ;-)

So, roll up, roll up who's the best player you ever beat in COMPETITION (for money or tournament preferably), top three's ok if you like but you can only elaborate on 1 of them!

I've beaten Efren, Parica, Sambajon, Strickland, and then I woke up.

Actually the only pros I've ever played against are Santos Sambajon (lost 9-7), Dave Hemmah (lost 9-4), Ismael "Morro" Paez (lost 9-5), Max Eberle (lost 9-3). I've played alot of shortstops before, and I've beaten a couple of them, one of them I beat even. All my matches against the pros were in open tournaments so there was no handicap for me. I played the best game of my life against Santos, which was less than 2 years ago. It was 7-7 and I dogged an easy 7 ball and he got out then he broke and ran out for the win. I once beat Roy Yamane hill-hill in an even race to 9, he plays pretty damn good.

Joe Tucker will kill me...but him, 9-1 at a Joss Event. Every time I see him he mentions it! And of course, I finished one out of the money!

Who is this crazy person? I never lost 9-1 at the Joss finals where I was awarded a Mike Webb custom cue stick for coming in third in the year end point standings and I especially never lost 9-1 to my publisher on Mike Zuglans rugged Gandys. This guy is nuts, and he's just trying to make me nuts. By the way I never lost to my favorite student Nicole Mancini at the Ocean State Championship and she didn't make 3 9's in the side pocket either. Two of my favorite worst sets that never happened. But Karen Corr did shoot 988 on me.

Joe T, Wasn't me! Even if you have pictures, wasn't me!

I beat Tommy Kennedy at the South East Tour year end championship. That is the only SE Tour event I ever cashed in. Lost to a bunch of great players and beat a few along the way, but Tommy is the best I have beat in a race to nine. That got me into the money and I had to come back the next day. Then I beat Tony Crosby 9 to 7 in a race to nine, but unfortunately the race was changed to 11 the final day and he won the last 4 games in a row to beat me 11 to 9. :(

That is the great thing about pool tournaments, you pay your cash and get a shot at champions. I have beaten Miz 9-ball, Irv. Crane 9-ball, L. Roberts 9-ball. Diliberto Straight pool, S.Cook 9-ball and one pocket. Jersey Red 9-ball, Tommy Kennedy 9-ball, Omaha Fats everything we ever played except one handed. Dave Howard 9-ball, Sigel (gambling) on a bar table before he knew how to play on one, same with Richie Ambrose. Quite a few more. That is why I say, get out of the stands, pay your entry fee and play. What other sport can you play with the great's with just a $100. entry fee.

Well, it's easy to create the wrong impression here, but I once beat Mika Immonen 11 -10 playing nine ball even on the tight table in the basement of the old Chelsea Billiards in NYC, and I once beat him by 150 - 146 in straight pool. Even more incredibly, I once beat Tony Robles 9 - 7 in nine ball after trailing by 6 - 0, but I've never managed to beat Tony at staight pool.

Not as incredibly, each of them has given me more than my fair share of beatings in both nine ball and straight pool.

Frankie Hernandez 7-1 in 4 innings in Delaware on a Sunday and dogged the finals of the event to finish 2nd. Never beat him before or again.

Keith McCready 9-7 in Salisbury, MD on loser side the first time I played him. Never beat him again.

Danny Basavich 7-6 in Baltimore, MD after being down 6-4, then ran out. Never beat him before or again.

Mike Davis and Max Eberle a few times but not since they became pros.

That's a pretty impressive list, macguy.

Tournament bridge is another example, though the entry fee per player is quite a bit less. If you play in a regional or national championship event of the American Contract Bridge League, you have the option to play in a) stratified events, where the maximum number of master points allowed is pre-established, or in an b) open event, where anybody can enter. I have played in some open regional and national bridge events, and my playing partner and I have competed against several of the greatest bridge players that have ever lived.

Maybe, but you figure to beat some of these guys if you can play a little. The thing is, is to play and got off the side lines. Of course you would not gamble with any of these guys but in a tournament if you beat them all they can do is shake your hand. Some of the tours like the Joss tour really gives players a chance to play the stars. Most sports this can't happen. When could you ever play Tiger Woods.

I have beaten Mark Tadd, Jose Parica, CJ Wiley, Ginky, Tang Hoa, Keith McCready, Dave Hemmah, Tony Annigoni, Frankie Hernandez, Ismael "Morro" Paez, and many more in tournament play, some in action, and some in both. Been beaten by many of them too.
The game that stands out as the funniest was a $5- or $10- ring game in NYC at the Big Apple tournament a couple of years ago. It was a five man 10 ball with Corey Deuel, Rodney Morris, Alex Pagulayan, Troy Frank, and me. When we flipped coins, Rodney got to go after me...he was giggling :D and letting everyone know that he had the nuts (you know, shooting after me and all) :) ...well, after initially dogging it several times and getting a lot of rolls, and Rodney not getting any good shots  , I hit a gear and ran out from everywhere. Broke that game up in a couple hours. :D Funny thing is after that, I got in a game I was stealing at, and got robbed.
Poetic Justice, huh?! :(

I've beaten my fair share of people, but i guess your looking for KNOWN names that are easy to recognize.
Lets see...
Efren, Busti, Ginky, Deuel, Tony Robles, Steve McAnnish, McCreesh, McCready, Spaeth, Delicious, Joyner, Jeff Carter, Jimmy Reid, Stalev, Zuglan, plus a few other pros that aren't as high profile

Oh yeah...there's the time i didn't beat Joe Tucker.

Most memorable loss. Ralf Souquet. He won the lag. Broke and ran a 5. He came up dry on the break, and i ran out and then broke and ran out to 4. I came up dry, and he ran out and then broke and ran out the set.
I shot 1000, and got demolished.

SUPERSTAR

I have beaten Niels Feijen and Alex Lely many times in moneygames.
Yes they give me something....duhu. But I still win sometimes!

Like the time I won 25$ in a money game with Alex Lely. We played straight pool to a 100. He played 100 no count and I played the normal way. He shot 86, 82, 4, 96, 74, 78, 57, 94.....and I took 12 turns to get to a hundered...
It cost me about 3 to 4 hours sitting on my ass to win the 25$

On Eurotour I've beaten Thorsten Hohmann 9-4.

In Finland I've beaten Mika twice, once 7-6 and once 6-3 (ran out from 3-3), but these victories was years ago.

Also, I've beaten top Finnish players like Lohtander, Juva etc...

I haven't really played many top players...

Wow that's pretty impressive, especially beating Efren. What's your real name? Are you a pro?
