Who is the cue expert?

EDIT for clarification: I am only asking who comes to mind for you as knowledgeable regarding certain makers or brands. Not seeking to crown an expert here. Casual conversation to see who pops into people's minds. Trying to stick to people that are or have been on AZB.

OK- Regarding various makers and manufacturers, who is the expert here on AZB? I am especially thinking about cue identification.

I'll start it off.

Adam = Jayman
Palmer = Tate
Joss West = Stroud
Joss "block letter" = Stroud and Janes
Joss after block letter = Janes
Huebler = poolcrazy

I can think of more of course, but I want to see what others think.

It might be the maker. It might be a collector. It might just be a fan. But who is it that you rely on most or seems to be most consistently knowledgeable about a certain maker or brand of cue?

Just curious about who we come up with.

Please, let's not turn this into an argument about who is and isn't an expert on Bushka cues. We have enough of that. Try to restrain yourself. :thumbup:

Just post who you think is the expert or "go-to-guy" for a certain maker or brand.

Could be an interesting thread.

I'm not aware that Janes posts on AZ. For experts, do you mean existing people, or people who post here?

All the best,
WW

Yes. Both father and son I believe. :)

Not very often though.

In any case, if you feel you know another or better then just say so. I wouldn't argue it.

I am just curious.

Well, would it be frequent posters, or existing human beings as the experts? If existing human beings, it's easy. Barry, Stroud, Janes, Ernie, Pete T, Laurie, Pete Balner, Dick Helmstetter. A few others, depending on cue.

I'm not sure what you meant. But if existing people, pretty small list.

If you meant frequent posters, a whole different universe. Not trying to be combative, just trying to understand what you meant. Still, could be an interesting thread.

In this day, there is no reason we cant have a cue registry - it doesnt have to have the owner, just a pic/pics of the cue. Maybe a code # and the owner could save an email from the maker with that #. Or something along those lines.

Every cuemaker should have pics of every cue they have ever made - no excuse.

That might work for new cues. Wouldn't work so well for historical cues. The view of the millenial is a bit different from the historian.

It means whatever you like.

Obviously some experts may rarely come by here while others are more frequent. You can note that when you name them if you like....

Thank you. :thumbup:

But you will always be "a" Pamler guy if not "the" Palmer guy...:wink:

We are lucky to have you around here. :thumbup:

I think the Palmer expert would be Pete Balner. I think he's still alive.

Definitely an expert.

But is he or was he on AZB? That's what I am interested in.

By the way, people that aren't around currently but used to be can easily be cited because we run into their posts when we are running searched about cues.

That's how I feel anyway.
