Oh, no, lemme guess....you ordered a custom cue, paid for it and never got it or you had a cue repaired, paid for it and never got it back...I know someone who is notorious doing that kind of stuff.........call the cops

I am in the process of doing exactly that!!!!! :( ! the cuemaker is Ted Harris Cues!

who are you?

I don't think we want to go down this path...
and what path are you on? Unless your name is TED I do not know you nor do I have a quarrel with you! The Shady One is being dealt with and I have both documentation ! a sworn statement from his ex partner to back up my statements (just in case this is you mr. harris!!!!)

I have also dealt with many honest cue makers but...

I guess I've been lucky. I've dealt with several cuemakers and have found nothing but honesty and integrity among the lot. Yeah, a time or two they've been a little behind schedule, but not that much and the product was usually well worth the wait when it arrived.

Later,
Bob

I suppose bcause of those many good experiences over my many years of playing pool and buying cues I allowed my guard to drop and was duped and ripped off, I received some positive feedback from a few friends about the work of Ted Harris so when he was at the last APA Divisional championships with his then new partner (Steve Lomax who had nothing to do with mr harris actions!) I gave him 2 cues to work on and the work was done well! I then gave him my classic D16 McDermott to be restored which after Steve had him kicked out of his shop Ted Took with him to Florida to his new  location and den of evil! having no other choice I sent him a check fo his $270 which he requested and now a month later I have no cue ! no replies to my daily calls and emails to him! and I have started the process with Steves help to acquire a warrant for his arrest! So please fellow pool lovers beware! DO NOT LET FANCY WEBSITES OR A FEW GOOD WORDS REGARDING SOME CUE MAKERS ALLOW YOU TO BE RIPPED OFF! I in the future will only pay COD for any Cues or Cue work no matter who it is or what I have heard about them!!! I would advise the same to any others!

Two words....Kevin Carson.

He agreed to take a cue back...agreed to refund me my money after he received the cue. Agreed to the condition of the cue after her received it and to send me my money back.

Never received a dime from him.

Very dishonest.

Enough said,

.....here's some advice. Please don't let the actions of one person ruin your opinion of so many others. There are many super great cuemakers and repair guys out there that I trust immensely. I can tell you from exerience (having had a similar problem before). You'll probably get your cue back at some point. For me it was nearly a year later. In the long run, let your checkbook do the talking [nothing is more powerful than that] and always steer your friends away from trouble like this.

Best of luck.

He is probably not the only one but Dennis Searing does not want payment until the cue is complete and satisfactory.
Talk about being secure and confident in your work.

Oh, and Mr. Lucky, if you ever need repairs done again, I would recommend Mike Webb without hesitation. You will not find a more honest guy to deal with.

I have met Ted many times and know he is not a shady businessman. I hope he makes things as right as they can be for you. He has been put through some twists & turns lately and shall return to his reliable ol' self soon.

For his sake I would like to believe that! but he cashed my checked 2 days after it was sent ! He will not return my Cue ! He will not reply to my calls or emails ! Based on those facts I have no other options but to believe he has no intent on giving me my property back ! There is no sensible reason that he could be well enough and alive enough to go to the bank with my check but not well or alive enough to go to UPS with my cue!
I have had problems in the past where I have had personal or business issues cause me to be delayed and could not respond quickly to a customer but I at least communicated with the customer !!!!!!

Tim Scruggs. Back in the eighties, I bought one of his cues from a dealer in St. Louis. I don't remember the name. I had to do some traveling and I left it at home for a few weeks. When I got the opportunity to play with it again I noticed the butt was warped. Not much at first but it continued over the next few weeks. I called the dealer and they said I would have to call Scruggs for any warranty issues. I called him and he said "I do not warranty my cues against anything for any reason."

Over the next year the butt turned into a bananna. This cue was not exposed to any unusual conditions, heat, moisture, etc. And Mr. Scruggs, I hope you hear about this. I am still out here and I still think you are a scumbag.

An I certainly do not have any info/ insight/ comment on your specific situation, didn't mean to insinuate I did.
Again, I hope Ted makes it as right as it can be for you.

I'll second that. Over the last few weeks, Mike Webb went to great lengths to make sure I was happy with his work (a refinish and leather wrap). I'll be posting the details in a new thread once I take some pics.

I hate to say this during your plight...but do you think you might be due for a screen name change? :(

I get about 2 custom cues a year. Almost all of them do not want ANY prepayment.

Frankly, I find it crazy. I would encourage them to take at least 25-50% of cost.

This would elminate the "6 year wait" on Southwest cues. Let people step up with $1K or so for a down payment and see how long the wait is.

I do sometimes feel sorry for some of these cuemakers when they get stuck with a non-payer, but really they do it to themselves.

this begs the question,,,,,HUH??? :)

He had stated in his first post that "more info would be coming" This was regarding which cue maker it was he was disgruntled with. My post (which was poorly written) was referring to that.

He has since stated that it was Ted Harris. I was just saying, If your are going to tell us at some point, just spill the beans now, instead of going on a fishing trip to see if anyone would name the guy first.
