;) A very good (Champion speed) young player from South Dakota was in NEw Orleans the past couple of days and beat several of our best players.
Like the Lone Ranger he escaped without telling us his name. Maybe 22-27 years old, hearing aid, very nice young man, possibly named Shane .Who was this masked man, Kingazabee ?

Only player that plays very well with a hearing aid(that i know of) is Travis Stamper.Babyfaced and with redhair but i thought he was from west va.Havent heard his name in a while.Jam(Keith Mcreadys girlfriend) has a pretty good line on a ton of players, she may have an idea.Let us know if you find out who it is.

Sounds too old to be former BCA Junior National Champion and brilliant player Shane McMinn. Though I'm not sure of it, I think Shane is only 20.

I don't know who it could be, without a picture. There are some players who HATE to have their picture taken and want to remain anonymous, unknown, so that they can enjoy their on-the-road travels without being recognized.

There are some players who don't mind having their pictures taken and are very photogetic. I think Corey Deuel has a great smile, and most of the younger ladies I've met on the tournament trail think Corey is extremely handsome; eye candy, if you will. :D

My favorite Corey picture was taken a few years ago at a Viking Tour Finale tournament in Ohio. Keith attempted to proposition Corey by saying he'd play one-handed with a spot from Corey, thinking he (Keith) had the dead nuts, as Corey listens intently. [See "The Proposition.jpg" below]

Corey ponders the idea and then gives Keith a proposition, saying that he (Corey) will play Keith even and shoot every shot with the mechanical bridge and Keith will shoot every shot one-handed.

Before the game commenced, Corey looks back at his friends on the rail brandishing a huge grin on his face, with Dee Adkins looking on. [See "The Double Sting.jpg" below]

Corey steamrolled right over Keith playing every shot with the rake, looking like something out of Star Trek. To this day, I have NEVER seen anybody play with the bridge like Corey Deuel. He may play better with the bridge than his two hands (LOL).

I'm just killing a little time in the middle of the night, trying to get used to this Daylight Savings Time change, and so I added a short story to this thread. I call it "The Rabbit Beats the Sly Old Fox."

My favorite Corey picture. [See "Still Friends.jpg" below]

Shane Vanboeing

He is from North Dakota and his hearing aid is real. Hey, did you happen to see an older guy with him named Shane also? His Backer, You should see him play. Shane Vanboeing won the Valley masters 8 ball championship on the bar box a few years ago.

As stated earlier, his name is Shane Vanboeing. He is 20/21 years old and resides in Sioux Falls, SD. The hearing aid is not a gig. Shanes backer is actually his uncle, Mike Bloomberg, who is a big time bookie in Sioux Falls. The word is that Shane recently gave Tony Fargo the 8 and beat him out of 10 large.

Lee Heuwagon who is originally from South Dakota and now resides in Minnesota, recently offered Shane the 7, however Shane declined.

Hi Vagabound,

I do not know if they are related, however it is very possible. In fact Shane lived in Rapid City as recently as 2 years ago, so Mike does have relation in Rapid City. I will ask Mike when I see him and get back to you.

Just the facts

Just to straighten out some info:
<Shane is from South Dakota
<Timi Bloomberg is his mother
<Mike Bloomberg is his half uncle and his backer, he also plays decent
<Shane did win the Master Valley this past year and he got second in the open division the year before.
<He is hearing impared and has been since birth
<He is 20/21
<Shane is also a fine young man who loves to play, he is a class act
<His whole family plays pool and this includes his grandparents
<I have watched him grow up in the game, I've played him many times over the years; won some and lost some, as of late I have just lost
<His barbox 8ball game is sterling but his big table game is coming along
<If they passed on a game with Lee Huewagon it is because there is a history there
<Shane can turn his ears off whenever he wants...LOL

"KNOCKING" Should be against the law!

I personally hate to see this forum being used for information on who (and how good) a player is.

"A POOL DETECTIVE" Can ruin many a good poolhall & only deter the progress of pool in general. If your going to knock someone and cost them a chance to win some cash, at least offer to pay their expenses.

To find out how good someone plays - Belly Up and play him!

Yeah- you definitely are right about it making for a less interesting pool-hall, but I must disagree with your statement, "...deter the progress of pool in general". You can't actually think that if, in every pool room there was some guy who could pull off a good hustle that pool halls would see better business.

Who wants to go to a place and get robbed? Not too many people.

Who wants to remain under the radar and do the robbin'? Most of us.

Just before I got to page 2, I was going to write a post about how this guy's cover has been totally blown, then I read what OHB said and he beat me to the punch.

As to your statement, "Who wants to go to a place and get robbed"? The answer is nobody except for the one's that THINK they can do some robbing themselves. And if that's the case, it's fair game otherwise don't play.

Hey, when the kid went to New Orleans he wasn't hitting on some poor working Joe with 5 kids. Besides working Joe could always say "NO". He hit on the TOP players and gamblers who are looking for and want the action. They didn't get taken...they just got beat!

I agree with Drivermaker, he didn't fool around winning 10 dollar sets off old men. He asked the gamblers to gamble they did and they lost. I play at a room with a serious "house stick". Road players come in and if they match up nobody is fooling anybody. A good night will be several K for some one. If the house player loses, hey there will be another roadie in next week.Btw the house stick doesn't lose very often.lol It is simple, nobody goes into a a match thinking they're going to lose. If this kid would've got snapped off for his bankroll he wouldn't have cried about it ya scrap up enough money to either get home or a cheaper set you can win. Hell, Ive seen people "loan" road players money to get more action if they're busted.

Andy

I am certainly not involved (nor will be) in "outing" the road players. I will say that I have no sympathy for players purposely playing well below their speed (though I do enjoy reading about it, thanks again OHB), I don't really think it advances pool very far. In fact, it kind of ruins things for me. Around here, there are WAY too many good players who will insist on playing a few cheap games below top speed before negotiating a real game - a total waste of time as far as I'm concerned. I ask them for their top speed, tell them we'll play even, tell them how much I'll play for and how long - but I always find myself wasting an hour watching them miss balls and shape on purpose for a few pennies. I then have to waste time while they ask me for ridiculous spots (we end up playing even, but they are better players and thats okay with me). There are several good players that won't play me without weight, for decent money, even though they are clearly better than I am - they insist on "the Hungarian cinch" as Fats would call it. I have limited time to spend away from home and work, and these guys are wasting it. JMO
