It kind of doesn't matter which American player gets the popular vote because, in the end, those who pick the American player will do so based on their own formula.
That said, I personally don't think some of the players' names listed previously in this thread have been devoting a lot of time to their pool game in recent times, as evidenced by their names not rising to the top of the charts at various events. It comes down to pool politics who gets hand-picked to play in the Mosconi Cup, IMHO, because the ranking system for men's professional pool in these United States of America is just that -- RANK!
Louis Ulrich is definitely hitting 'em strong right now. I would definitely like to see him on Team USA. He can do some damage to Team Europe.
Larry Nevel is also out there on the tournament trail, devoting a lot of time to his game, and he has scored some wins. So I like him, too.
James Walden is a money man, but he's got my vote. This guy can play under all kinds of pressure situations, and he delivers the goods. He's out there playing every day and is in dead-punch stroke.
Shannon Daulton is my American favorite. He's playing frequently right now, runs a tour, and he can score wins. Shannon would be an EXCELLENT choice for the Mosconi Cup.
That's the way I see it in October 2007. Ask me next year this time, and I'm sure I'll have a few more to add to the list. These four above-referenced players, however, are today's top guns, IMHO.
