Watched some pool on the tube the other day, 2004 skins game I think it was. Larry Nevel was on there (is that as hard as be breaks) he was hitten um ok. Id give it to Tony Elin over what I saw. I was just wondering who really just smashes um... I heard Little David Howard hit um pritty good. I've seen some guy named Jack in Montana break, for a 62 year old, it was pritty damn impressive.

Busta is a no brainer, Archer is pitchure perfect but doesnt hit um that hard, And Strikland, well never really cared for is break but I never scene it in person 15 years ago.

So who really smashes um ?

Roberto Gomez, Ronnie Alcano are two very good players that pop into my head.

Sammy Jones is another that pops in there. Not sure how much Sammy plays these days.

At Hardtimes a few years ago for a IPT qualifier Alcano was playing Drago or someone the night before it started. He had the whole room watching him crush the balls.
Many of the pros were stopping their practice to watch each break.

Jon Kucharo, Hillbilly, Breedlove, De Luna(I like his break the best). If I had to guess, I would say that Nevel was not hitting them his hardest-probably not even close.

Btw, I have seen amateurs break harder then almost all the pros.

> I don't care who it is,NO ONE hits them like this consistently, except this guy. I watched him break for 2 hours straight at the U.S. Open in 2000,and I swear he never scratched unless he got kicked, and he hit every single rack this hard and flush, without phenolic. Watch how straight back the cue ball shoots and squats before getting kicked by the 9. Tommy D.

The hardest breaker I've seen is a guy named Donnie Bianco. You've probably never heard of of him b/c he doesn't play too good..lol. When they'd have the radar gun challenge thing in Vegas, he'd clock around 32 mph on average.

Oh btw....I never said he had great cue ball control. I'm just talking purely speed. I just saw this thread saying "who smashes the rack".

My highest break speed is around 29 mph but I prolly average 25-27 somewhere in there.

Some people may not think 25-27 mph is hard, but it is! That's about on par with Archer's speed.

There's a certain sound you here when the big smashers break. Two guys I've played that had that certain ring to the ears when they broke were David Howard and Bustamante.

I just can't understand smashing them as hard as you can..

Look at what Corey Deuel did to mika back in 2000 i mean control is where it's at.

Evgeny Stalev (mid- to high-30s in mph)

You want to see (hear, actually) a break unlike any you've seen? Check out Evgeny Stalev's break in his U.S. Open match with Warren Kiamco:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PkCG3q2PDa4

(Go to 9:20 [9 minutes, 20 seconds] in the video to see the first of Evgeny's many powerful breaks.)

Evgeny breaks with his full-splice player, and he's got a very unique breaking style. His back arm winds up like a clock spring, and the power comes from not only the arm, but the pectoral muscle. His body doesn't move all that much, compared to other hard breakers.

Check it out, I'm sure you'll be impressed. That sound the rack makes when hit like that; it almost wants one to walk over and inspect the balls to check for damage. :)

Enjoy,
-Sean

You seem to infer that the best results are from slower speed. Just as wrong ass assuming harder is better.

Both generalizations and neither always correct. Good players will try to find what works best on any given table/ day.

Geeenyus alert above!

Sean is right. I'm sitting by Stalev's corner in the video. This guy destroys racks. He couldn't be 160lbs wet!

I watched him beat Scott Frost who exclaimed of his break "this guy doesn't care where his ball goes." Stalev has mad power, doesn't scratch and makes a ball most of the time. No doubt an enjoyable break to watch.

I can smash a rack if I need to.

Archer CAN smash a rack. I watched him one night bending a house cue easily 50+ degrees breaking. You could hear his break outside.

Some of the skinniest lady players can smash a rack. The last WPBA stream Angel was smashing the rack very hard but had no control (launched cueballs).
AZb's Cris DLG got one really good smash. Pocketed 5 balls including the nine and squatted the cueball mid table.

Mark Cavalier from new orleans use to have 1 of the most powerful breaks i've ever seen...wasn't always the most stable...but broke many of pool lights & cueballs...once broke a rack of nine ball where 5 balls & the cueball flew off the table.
