Who made this custom cue? Calling cue gurus

I have a cue I'm trying to ID. I bought it with another cue, and both were represented as Black Boar cues. One clearly is an RS-1 and is marked with the old logo, the other veneered cue is not marked.

I was at BB on Friday, and Tony said he didn't think it was one of his. He suggested it might be a Scruggs but could be from a number of makers.

So...looking for the gurus to chime in and help me ID this cue. it is well done and has nice even points and thick aluminum ring work - I'd just like to know more about it.

If you need other views that aren't shown here or have questions that might help in the ID, please let me know.

Remove the bumper and look at the butt and weight section. Use a dental tool and actually count the threads on the inside of the insert. Weights help shafts and butt. shafts size(mm). Id the ferrule material . Id the Tip. Look at the grain on the shaft straight through the ferrule(straight?) How many growth rings? look at the shaft tapers Id. and the total cue die-mentions mark
 
Butt weighs 15.78 and the one shaft that came with it with matching ringwork is 3.68 and 12.5mm with ivory ferrule. I'm assuming the plain collar was made after the fact. The grain is straight all the way and looks like about 16 rings per inch.
 
This cue is somewhat generic. I assume the joint is 5/16 X 14.

It's very consistent with Richard Black's work. I think it's a Black or a take off on one of his design's. You can try e-mailing him at richard@blackcues.com - it's worth the effort.

I don't know if you have a 3rd edition Blue Book, but his Double Oval cue on Page 175 of shows the same double silver Buska ring style and butt rings as this cue. The rest of the cue looks like a Black to me as well. However, anoher cue maker could have copied this design idea as well.

Yes, it's a 5/16 x 14. I believe it is a full inch long and it doesn't like my normal production Joss 5/16 x 14 shafts (similar to the Black Boar). Assuming there is something in the precision machining that causes this.

I will try Richard and see what I can find out. I'm hoping to sell the cue and it would help to have more info...
