Who makes a cue that plays like a house cue?

Snipped
Several cuebuilders will make a full spliced cue from a good blank.
They typically play real good.

There's another thread on here about cuemakers who make full splice custom cues.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=174250&highlight=full+splice+cues

Personally I like the full splice cues made by Mark Bear
at http://www.bearcues.com

The thread above will list several other full splice cue makers.

If you can get to a show like the Super Billiards Expo at Valley Forge, PA this March you can hit with several cues and find the one that has the hit you like and probably get a good deal from the cuemakers there at the show.

Best of luck to you in your cue selection.

Hey Doc,

The last time I was "snipped" was when I was born....:yikes:

Love that full spliced hit though.

Peace

Come on guys you are not reading the question .

Probably because your question isn't focused enough for anyone to answer. Your thread title is a specific question, but that apparently isn't your question. You then are asking about stiffness, so are you asking about spin or are you looking for a cue?

Stiffness or non-stiffness is an individual preference. All the cue ball cares about is where you hit it, how hard you hit it, and what losses you have in the 1 - 2 millisecond contact. Some people swear be whippy shafts while others swear by stiff shafts. Some swear a soft tip give more spin while others believe a hard tip does. That generally points to the idea that everyone is right and nobody is wrong. Individual preference rules.

Something about that housestick likes YOU. It would probably hate ME.

Fred <~~~ hated by most housesticks

Guido Orlandi, Has been trying to duplicate the feel of a one piece for years his newest cues play great, they have a nylon insert in the shaft that really adds to the feel. I think Jay Helfert has one of the newer ones as well you might hit him up for a second opinion.

CHUCK STARKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chuck makes a cue with a wood pin that hits exactly like a high quality house cue. I love'm. Nothing I've used compares to the hit... with the possible exception of some of the South West's I've used. I had not used every cue on the market. But Chuck's cues are just so dammed good that they stand out whenever I see a thread like this. talk to desi2960 here on azb.

You beat me to it. Starkey cues are the closest to a one piece hit that I've played with. I like Guido's cues as well. I have two of them, but I have yet to play with his new design.

This was on a house cue at my home. I did think about doing that but it is only 57" and seems a little short. I really am more interested in the insight of the "players" on here about the difference in the stiffer house cue putting more action than my custom cue that is much more whippy. I was under the impression that the whipper shaft would give more action. It just doesn't seem that way after this little experiement. I understand the solidness of the one piece cue feeling different but never expected that much action and the ease of applying it with the stiff house cue. So is it true the stiffer shaft is easier to apply spin or not?

whippy cues are great! you can do all sorts of things with 'em that you can't with stiff cues...like go busted!

a friend of mine told me about a conversation that took place and those comments were made.

imo a stiffer shaft is easier to apply wanted english. whippy shafts will put all kinds of spin on the cue ball. when you want it to and when you don't. i've actually seen whippy cues (meucci) cost someone money. the entire cue buckled when he shot a shot that had to be hit real firm to get shape.

I have one cue that feels more like a house cue than my Starkeys. It is a Huebler SP as it came from Paul's shop.
