Hi,
A parabolic function is only one half or one side of a plotted parabola. This is referred to by many as a parabolic curve. A cue maker can use a portion of this curve to his liking to establish a segmented parabolic profile as part of a total compound taper of a butt or a shaft.
Rick
It then becomes a COMPOUND taper with a curve portion .
Of course ( it's not coarse by the way like 80-grit paper ) it's just my opinion.
It's also my opinion that some really don't get what DPK was trying to achieve with his taper.

If you look at that curve, you should get the idea ( not as dramatic as that one of course. Imagine a much larger dish ).
