who makes the best steel jointed plain jane under $600?

SS Playing Cues

I think the Jensen cue that Doug has here should be an excellent playing cue and he is an excellent fellow to do business with here on AZ.

If you could find a used -R- SS cue IMHO they would be very hard to beat.....I think Tommie1351 may still have a Cocobola 3 pointer that I sold to him a little while back -- Exceptionally Nice 1 of 1 playing cue -- right in your price range

I don't know a living cuemaker who builds a better playing cue than Mike Johnson, Jensen. He's easily the most UNDERRATED cuemaker in history. When I begin ordering cues for my collection, his will be one of, possibly even the first.

I beg to differ sorry but IMO Jeff Olney makes better playing cues than anyone else in the world and at a very reasonable price to boot.

Nice to see the Jensen fans coming out. Yup, in that price range you will get the best playing steel jointed cue money can buy.

Also, you will get to deal with a heck of a nice guy and his lovely wife June.

An endorsement from Eric Crisp of Sugartree cues should tell you something about a Jensen cue!!!

Remy, I don't think there is any "ONE" best playing cue, however, I have had just about every cue on my "cues to try list" and only a few did I like enough to buy another. That short list includes both Jensen and Olney. Both makers make piloted steel and flat faced joints, however, Mike is much better known for his steel jointed cues and Jeff for his flat faced. I have never tried a flat faced Jensen or a steel Olney, maybe I should? At any rate, one things for certain, both Mike Johnson and Jeff Olney make great playing cues at a price that seems way to low, when compared to most others.
thanks-jeff

Sure, definitely a plain jane or a plain 4 prong with maple nose for right around that. Look at what you can still get for just shy of $1000....6 prongs, exotic woods, with ivory options, rings everywhere, etc. Even after 2 price increases in recent years, his stuff is still right there at the top on playability and affordability in my book, not to mention his special/unique stuff ("show cues") have really been taken to a whole new level. Andy and Vicki have definitely made strides in that arena....and all still without the use of CNC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is becoming one the best out there for sure"

Eurowest without a doubt

A teammate ordered one yesterday for 350 euros - that's $460 including the German VAT of 19% - I just don't know about importing cues in the US. If it works the same way than importing from the US to Germany, then it would be $390 plus shipping plus the VAT and taxes of your state

His cue is BEM forearm, leather wrap and I think ebony butt with Elforyn buttcap. ACBDE rings and Eurowest's own shaft called "AS". AS stands for the cuemakers name Andi Stahl. He learned from Bill Stroudt
Here's Eurowest's description of it

Eurowest special "AS" shaft. Only the finest pieces of shaftwood ever make it to become an "AS" shaft. Chosen by hand, made by hand over a period of more than a full year by Andi personally. The shaft is available for all brands.

Please ask for delivery time and availability!

Delivery time for the cue: 4 weeks
