Who practices bridge shots?

:eek:If yes-what aspects and how?

If not-why not?/ do you have a good opposite hand stroke? behind the back? one-handed air bridge?

Personally-I don't practice with the bridge. I think I should start. Including ways of getting the bridge off the table in a hurry without hitting other balls.

How do you stroke-side arm? vertical forearm? stiff wrist? fluid wrist?

How do you judge tip distance from CB? any depth perception issues-possible double hits?

I generally find a way to screw things up using the bridge for anything but the simplest of shots (hangers/with next ball hanging too)

Thanks for any advice/drills/warnings/criticsms or stories of successes or disasters.

Take care

I don't seek out opportunities to use it, but do not shy from it if it comes up.

Gotta practice how you play. Can't expect to be able to do it when necessary if you haven;t paid the piper!

I usually shoot opposite handed when it comes up. Rarely do I practice with the bridge.

I usually just shoot opposite hand or a bank shot when I am practicing. I rarely take the bridge out when practicing. I probably should practice using it.

I randomly, when I get bored, shoot an entire rack with a bridge. One thing it will do, is give you quick practice of a variety of shots with a bridge. If you miss, make a note of it and come back to it later. I don't do this very regularly. I play on mostly boxes so I rarely have to use a bridge, even though I'm short. I might play a few bridge shots before I know I'm going to be playing on a 9 footer.

As a snooker player, I devote about half an hour a week just with the rest (that's what we call it:grin-square:)

Your arm should be at a 90 degree angle, but horizontal rather than vertical.

Hold the cue with just you index and middle fingers and let it rest on your thumb. Use a loose grip.

Focus on keeping your elbow and shoulder still, and just make sure you follow through.

It's not that difficult to learn out to use the rest on a pool table, usually when you have to use it, the shots aren't all that tough.
