Who Said Charlie Williams Cant Play?

Exactly. He defeated efren, hillbilly and ben davies. I think with a 6 pack (could be wrong).

I.ve played charlie ALOT, and he can run out from anywhere, at anytime. Surely a dangerous player.

Good luck charlie!!!!

No one said he can't play. He is really shining at this tournament.

Beating Efren one time doesn't mean a whole lot. Everyone has good days but I doubt he's gonna go looking to gamble with Efren even any time soon.

Believe me, I know Charlie doesn't play anywhere close to Efren's speed. Not too long ago a few people on this board said he is weak for a pro player. He's showing how well he can really play right now.

Yea he can play, but I don't think he can take a punch.

that wouldnt surprise me that earl said that, from a guy that cant make it past the second round.cant wait for the day when someone has had enough of earls mouth and takes a shot at that mouth.

Saurus,
I wonder if you have a "complete" view of AZB yet. Realize that all forum members do not have the same degree of credibility. Let me give you some guidelines: if JAM, or Blackjack, or Grady, or Freddy, or sjm, or John Schmidt, or Jay Helfert, or Thorsten Hohmann rate someone's speed; then you can pretty much rely on their estimate.

If some anonymous poster like me or the evil troll breakup estimate someone's speed, then it is possible that you should use some discretion and perhaps take their opinions with a grain of salt (large, large grain...about the size of a softball).

Having said all of that; Charlie plays at a top pro level - anyone saying otherwise is probably not a reliable source. If you haven't seen him play in person, you should; you would not have doubts after seeing him play.

He has a number of very vocal detractor's on the forum, who take every opportunity to criticize his business venture's and playing skill; but I doubt if they have much support. Most true students of the game believe he is a tremendous asset to the game, has contributed to the growth of the game, and conducts himself in a very admirable and ultra-professional manner.

P.S. - he plays as close "to Efren's speed" as anyone else (??no one on the planet??).

ROFLMAO omg lol you just brightened up my day

People have some pretty lofty standards around these parts.

"He beat Efren, yea, but..."

Man, you have to be kidding me, right?

Yeah but..., he's only beat him at least three times, lol! Charlie can play a little, he's been beating top players at least since he was fourteen.

Exaggeration?

I think that things get exaggerated...

What I remember being discussed about Charlie Williams and his ability was that there is no way that he should be a representative of the US for the Mosconi Cup because he is not one of the top 8 (?) players in the US. (If there have been other threads other than the Mosconi Cup, I apologize)

They (not me) said the only reason that he was part of the Mosconi Cup was because they were using rankings from the UPA tour, which Charlie was President, at the time.

I (me) think Charlie is definitely a pro player and is a threat to win any tournament at any time. I don't care about his UPA politics, but I would agree that he is not in the top 8 that should be in the Mosconi Cup.

Of course, with a grain of salt, this is JMO. If there were other threads that you are referring to, other than the Mosconi Cup, I apologize, but that is the one I remember.
