Who was in the wrong?

Just caught the tail end of Earl's match with 21 year old Korean women's player Seo Seoa. She defeated Earl 5-1. After she shook Earl's hand, she went in for the hung and Earl shunned her. She was obviously elated to defeat a legend but should she have been more "professional" or should Earl have been more accommodating?

I watched that as it happened. There is no right or wrong. But imo, I think it's pretty crappy on Earls part and Earl is my all time fav player. He is a living legend and knows it. This young female player who is probably thrilled just to even play him, just wants to hug him. It would have been a special moment for her. Who cares if you're mad or hate hugs or whatever. How about you do something for someone else so it makes them happy. It's not like it's something huge or costs you anything. I don't think it's poor sportsmanship but poor character

Going for a hug is not unprofessional (what an idiotic statement) but it is also perfectly okay to not want to be hugged. Just chalk it up to an innocent but awkward situation.
Okay, Mr. Keyboard Warrior. By unprofessional, I was referencing the timing of it; not the act of hugging itself. Must your comments always be demeaning? That's what's unprofessional, IMO.

At the end of the day, there really is no "right or wrong" just curious what everyone's take is. I understand her excitement but also understand Earl is probably not thrilled with losing so he's not in the hugging mood. I can't imagine any competitor would be given the circumstance.

I guess I was just a little surprised she made that attempt given Earl's history and was not at all surprised by Earl's response even though it was a bit of a bad look for him.

I don't think Earl is the hugging type but that was a bit like snubbing a fan more so than a competitor. In the video she seemed very exited to have played him and trying to get a hug. You can hear him say something about not hugging, and Jayson at the next table was having a blast witnessing all that LOL

Earl is an asshole when he loses, but when Earl refused the hug, she should have walked away--instead of standing there in his space, sort of demanding acknowledgement. The bottom line is: an over the hill champion should realize that some opponents may want to pay homage to them, which you think would stroke their ego, and it would behoove them to be gracious about it. But Earl is such a cry baby, that's what you get.

Earl did something similiar to karen corr when she beat him at turning stone. She shook his hand and he snatched his hand out of hers and was yelling something at her.

thanks. That was brutal. Im suffering from second hand embarrassment. Knowing earl....he was pissed because a) he got beat by a girl.
B) her slow play
