and play with me? to help me get some competition?

as it stands now in the next few weeks my garage/apartment is going to be remodeled. and once completed the boys from Orner Billiards in Indy are coming down to move the Gold Crown IV upstairs, and put new Simonis 860 cloth on it as well. believe i am going with the standard Simonis Green this time around. blue is the predominant color upstairs, and with powder blue cloth on it, well, that might just be blue overkill.

just wondering who out there would consider coming over to do some playing and practicing together?

Indy

You boys up there in Indy need to go show him how it's done! He finally wants to play someone, so you all need to get in there and show him a proper welcome. If I wasn't in Texas I would go try my hand at a few rounds with him.

Although if he puts that dumb ass light above his pool table like he wants to, then it would be a waste of a good GC, and I probably would get frustrated at all the shadows it will be casting! Oh well, doesn't mean someone can't go break in his table proper for him!

Are you going to the Us Open? Coming to Indy is a little far for me.But I would be willing to meet at the Open.

Congrats DCP..........I think that will really help you break your cycle of......well, you know.

I would play a few sets with you if I weren't in LA.

Get out there and play local tourney's.

Russ......

Maybe give Jeanette Lee a call...she's from that area...I'm sure George won't mind. Johnnyt

DCP,
You may want to consider the Simonis "blue green" color. It is not quite so garish as the standard green (though unless they are side to side, most people can't tell that it is not the standard green). It definitely blends a bit better with the blue background. It is my preferred color of Simonis, I have had it on my tables for the past 5 years - definitely a bit more elegant than the standard green; and very easy on the eyes. JMO.

P.S. - you should definitely take up elvicash's offer to play. He is a great guy, and excellent player; and has spent some significant time on the road with a very famous road player. The last time he was in Betmore's Basement he found a flaw in my stroke; and correcting it has really helped my game.

i'll check on that color Willie. didnt know Simonis had a blue/green color? i'll check their website momentarily.

thanks for the info about Elvicash. not sure where he's from, but sounds like he's a player. as soon as i get this garage/apart made bigger, perhaps i should get in contact with him? or does he live a LONG ways away and was only going to be in the area for the weekend?

Willie,
i checked the website, hard to tell from their samples. do you have any really good pics of your GCIV with the blue green cloth?

DCP,
Elvicash is a local here in Indy.

The only pics I have of Betmore's Basement were taken by JCIN when Grady visited. Here's the link. Note that the Chalkies tables are the regular Simonis green (though they have one blue table also).

i went with the simonis blue........i think they call it "tournament blue".....great color, it really grabs light and its easier to see playing on it.

From below the sample pics on the website:

Web images will vary from monitor to monitor.
Please request a swatch card for accurate color matching.

In other words, if you email them they will send you physical cloth samples. ;)

Have you ever played on the olive simonis? That's what I have on my home table, and love it. Easy on the eyes, still in the green family, and goes with many decors.

Though color coordination for your lair is your choice, I prefer Simonis 760 tournament blue as well for pocket billiards, and Granito 2000 (?) blue for 3C.

PM me a phone number.

My wifes family is from the Jasper - St. Antony - Ferdinand area.

I would think you be somewhere in that area since you work at Crane.

I get down there a few times a year.

I live in Indy.

I can get out but do not claim to be a world beater.

My best game is 9 ball on a bar box, I have one at the office.

I play OK on a Gold Crown, I have one in the basement at home.

Trying to learn straight pool and and I seem to get distracted by the break and do not seem to be able to put any real decent high run together.

I am going to start keeping track of my actual hi run but for the time being I now claim a hi run of 14. (I have ran quite a few of those practicing in the last 3 months) :)

I just like to play when I get the chance.
