Who won AZ 14.1 State Championships?

BVal said:
If you played with Scott it was probably on table 6 which is TIGHT and has nothing to do with the air lol :)

BVal
Lol, Im not sure which table number, but yeah it was almost embarassing. The first set we played i think was to 9 games and I was as close to -9 as I was to 9. It was a good time tho and I love the Phx area. Would love to migrate back to the area, but have a year left of school for cisco systems type computer networking. Hope to meet some of you in the future if not this month, perhaps later this fall.

For u BVal,

Well, there i was in 110 degree heat, at the drive through, getting ready to order my Monday lunch as always. Just as i start to order my usual, the big #4 Baconator is staring me in the eye. :)

I was reminded of the Baconator Ring game that was mentioned and thought to myself, "I must try this". So i gave in.

Now i sit here at my desk, fuller than a fat tick on a lean ......(u finish the rest). Not bad, but i sure hope i don't start developing some chest pains and numbness in my arm from that thing. :) Wow!
That is funny shit right there.

lol. So are you playing in the next Desert Classic Tour stop at Metro on 7/26-27? If so... I am going to give you a run for your money on the best 8 and under side pot.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brady at the last tour event, and playing against him for the honors of the 8 & Under side... and had he not had to forfeit, It woulda been close, I'm sure. So, lets make it a three way race for the 8 & Under side! :)

Hey man,

I thought this was you but I wasn't sure. How are you doing? Who did you play after me? I am sorry that I had to forfeit but I had no other choice at the time. I sure would have liked to see how far I could have gone and how our match would have ended.

I am sure it will end up being more than a 3 way race at the next event :)

I played Babe Thompson... got beat 100-27... not pretty... He still plays pretty sporty! He and his wife were very complimentary of me and of all of us showing up just to try to play this masterful game.

No problem, bud... At least with the forfeit, you still got 2nd in the side... so it wasn't a total loss.

Oh yeah... Susan could definitely win this one... There'll be quite a few of us vying for this one I'm sure... Its all about the draw... all about the draw. :)

See ya there!

Susan is always a factor. She shoots really well. I did just beat her in our straight pool league match last week. 79 to 49. But to be fair - she came straight from work, Mike for got her cue (she played with one of Mike's old ones) and she spotted me 15 balls in a race to 79. :)

I didn't even know I got 2nd in the side pot. I was at the bar paying my tab and Bull walked up and handed me money. I asked what it was for and he said I got 2nd in the 8 and under side so that was pretty cool. Besides that I won my first match in an all-around which is a huge accomplishment for me so even if I didn't get 2nd in the side it wouldn't have been a total loss.

BVal

Exactly how I felt... I manged to win two matches... I won my first two at the last event too, but for some idiotic reason I didn't get into the 8 & Under side.. I would have won that side as well...

Oh well... there's always Metro... I won't let another side pot go un-entered! :)

Was that one or TWO iced teas? 4 bucks tops.

Do you have a problem with people who drink Ice Tea? Actually if I am not playing I have been know to have (1) Beer, not (2) Beer. Because I am the designated driver of my vehicle.

If you limit yourself to just starting 1/2 the posts here on AZB, you could save enough GREEN on your electric bill to cover a tourny or two.

Actually the things in my home that consume the most electricity, are per the electric companies (APS) literature.

Air Conditioning

Heat Pump

Stove Tops

Oven

Hot Water Heater

Toaster.

You know those things we use to make Hot, and Cold that run on electricity.

FYI most moderns computer are very energy efficient. They use very little electricity.

Your observations are dead wrong, once again.

8's and under have a totally seperate prize fund. It's the 9's (like myself) who are at the greatest disadvantage, when it comes to prize funds.

This is the Part of you post I find the most interesting where you stated, ?8's and under have a totally seperate prize fund?

Are you talking about a separate Side Pot, or Prize Fund. Or as Ricky Recardo use to say, please SPLAIN what it is you mean.

As I have look at the Desert Classic Tour Web-Site, and see mention of a Eight, and Under Side Pot, but no mention of a totally seperate prize fund for 8 and under players.

Unlike you, I look forward to having a chance to play a great player. They aren't always 'unbeatable'. I can't wait to play Scott F. He'll probably toast me, but he'll know I was there. And IF I happen to beat him? That will make the entry $$$$ all worthwhile, believe me.

Guess you have more money to spend on Pool Tournament Entry Fees that I do you.

I would call you a lucky dog.:yikes:

BTW I hope you reply about that statement you made about "8's and under have a totally separate prize fund". Show me where it say so, and how it woks, a there might be a few 8's and under who also are curious about it.:scratchhead:

First of all, a side pot is a prize fund. Why don't we just call the entry fee a side pot as well. Maybe then it will make more sense to you. All players put up a fee, to win a prize. In this case, it is a portion of the entry, or side pot entry, or whatever the heck you want to call it.

Instead of someone trying to "SPLAIN" it to you, why don't you make an effort to do something positive and come learn about it for yourself? Maybe a little hands on experience and you will finally "get it".

Geez, there is always one!

CooCoo,

Still dodging the real issue I see. Do you have the heart to play me? I mean seriously - you don't have to bet money. I will pay for your gas, drinks and any other expenses you might have. You get to pick the place we play, the game we play and the rules you want to play by. You go to your handicap and I go to mine. What more do you need besides some heart to step up and play? It will also be streamed by Fast Lenny so AZB can watch it. If that scares you I will let you wear a mask so noone will recognize you.

**Can someone not on his ignore list please quote this so he will see it. Thanks.

COOCOO,

No, yet again, you are sadly mistaken. I would attribute it to lack of knowledge on your part since you have never been to an event as a player and/or spectator.

Wrong I believe I stopped by the first stop @ Alexanders, and stayed about 45 minutes, maybe an hour, and went home.
What i would love is for all players to support all events, every room owner, every tournament director, every tour, every establishment, etc...
It doesn't matter to me what your rating is.

It's not about money to me, sir. Don't forget, this is a non profit tour for ALL players in Arizona!

Dennis
You are right Dennis, The Desert Classic Tour is open to all players in Arizona who wish to play in The Desert Classic Tour, and I understand there are about 10,000 listed in the Rating Book. Plus I have no idea as too how many others are not listed in Rating Book but play in one of the Leagues in Arizona.

But in my opinion because your Desert Classic Tour is run as an Open Event, the vast majority of Arizona Players the 75-80% that hold a rating of 8 and under will not participate.

Might consider NEXT YEAR running the Tour as a Handicapped Event to draw a few more 8?s and under.

Think you could also be in for a big surprise at the last stop, with the Maga ADD. You could have an armada of out of state players, or Pros coming to that one event looking for an early Christmas present.

Do not know if that would be a good or bad thing? :scratchhead:

BTW My Ignore List is like a private thing, I pretty much see most posts, noting is blocked, no one is on the official AZB Ignore list, some times I just choose not to reply to posts I personally see not reason to reply too.:shocked2:

Time to go play pool, got a friend a waiting on me.;)

It is a side pot entry that only 8 and under players can enter. kind of like a separate tourney entry. You still pay your normal entry fee of $50 that goes into the main pot.

But you also have a pot that that you can play for that only 8 and under players can play for.

And BTW...I will take full credit for that idea (since it was me that suggested it)...So I guess you could say thanks to me for thinking of the 8and under players well being in those events.

Wish I could say the same for you about the 10s...

Meanwhile....I am a 9 (no mans land)....probably the worst rating (level player) to be in the sate of Arizona (IMO)...but I am sure I will scrape out $50 frome somewhere to play in the next event....One of these days...I will break through the ice and get to the 10 level.......and it will be smooth sailing from there.

So many things are wrong with post it is tough to figure out where to start.

As for not seeing a reason to reply - I think you need to brush up on your reading comprehension skills then go to the doctor and see if your heart is still beating.

With the Desert Classic Tour the only out of state or road players that will be in the finale will be players that have played in two or more events throughout the season. Running the tour as a handicapped event would be totally retarded. Even if it was a handicapped event you still wouldn't show up to play. Hell you probably still wouldn't show up to watch (just like now). I mean you won't even play for free!!!!!

Places that do run a monthly 8 and under tournaments only get about 50 people to show up at best. The DCT events pull in the same amount if not more. Yet again - you have never played in one of them.

You are such a joke it is not even funny anymore. I stopped laughing a while back and started feeling sorry for you. You are just a sad and pathetic old man who is always negative about everything. You contribute nothing to pool but you feel your opinions should mean something.

I believe you when it comes to saving GREEN. I don't doubt for one second that you keep the APS literature on your nightstand, like a Bible. And know from front to back, by heart.

Well...I guess I am what you call 'lucky'.

Just like the other 80% -90% of the other 'lucky' people playing in the tournaments.

If there is something I want to do bad enough....I'll figure out how I can do it. I'll raise the cash somehow....I'll make a gameplan, then go for it. Not sit home and waste my time making countless, meaningless, threads about something I have NO %#$@ idea about. And NEVER will know anything about.
