Who Won The Archer/Strickland Match?

had to leave early

johnny was playing better and up 15-8. earl cries about everything.
he makes a bad shot and blames johnny for "getting all the rolls."

great. earl deserved to loose. just like we learned in grade school, complaining about gravity is useless and only makes you miss.
just think how good earl will be when he finally grows up.

What do you mean he deserved to lose? What did he do to deserve to lose? Were you there? please give us your account of what happened that made it so that he deserved it.

I have seen both act pretty immature during pool matches and I have also seen both surprise me with impressive displays of sportsmanship.

i was there for 2 hours. admittedly 'deserved' is a judgement call. but to me, he was too busy talking, not playing. johnny was focused, wanted to win, and i would have bet anything when i left that johnny was going to win.

earl asked for the loss. earl would hang a ball in a pocket and blame johnny for getting lucky. earl would break dry and complain. johnny would break dry and leave earl no shot and earl would complain, "every time he makes a ball everything is open, he breaks dry and leaves me this. they all do that." earl made poor safeties and would stare intensely into johnny's face with this wild-eyed-i-am-a-lunatic look and say "you're getting all the rolls, johnny." earl complained that the crowd wasn't paying enough attention. he told us we all needed to get a job. he would throw his cue down, onto the next table, in disgust when he missed. he would close his eyes when johnny was doing well.

johnny took it all in stride and made his shots. he missed, he sat down. he won, he broke. recipe for winning. earl played a good safe but left a small "keyhole" window available. the audience was clapping and earl yelled, "don't clap, he's got a keyhole, you know what that is?" hours of *****ing, recipe for loosing.

often, you get what you ask for. leave the soup on the stove at high heat for an hour and come back to find it burned. hey, make all the excuses you want, but you deserve to go hungry.

Then in my personal opinion you are right he brought it on himself by not being focused and let his emotions get the better of him again. I think Johnny Archer has beat him a few times in the past couple of months and I am going to guess that Earl is getting sick of it. For a long time Earl was talking about the ten foot table and that he would rob anyone on it. Well finally he got his wish and he did beat SVB but he also got his ass handed to him by that 18yr old on a ten foot and now Johnny Archer. He is probably pissed that after all his talk about the ten foot table he really isn't unbeatable on it after all.

I'm not trying to climb on the earl bashing bandwagon but have you noticed how his negative energy seems to just snowball on him. I have been in a bad mood before playing pool and everything just got worse and worse. I was complaining about bad luck and playing the victim. I kept scratching and things like that, it was so bad that a 2 beat me in my league match.

I learned then and there that you make your own luck so to speak. Go into things with a negative attitude and bad things are going to happen. But if you learn to roll with the punches life seems to be more forgiving.

I am really not sure what it is that makes Earl go off the way he does. There is all kinds of talk about Bi polar and meds and so on. I just am not sure what the real reasons are, I do know Earl quite well and I have had my problems with him also. I also have seen the other side of Earl that is a nice, decent caring guy. So whenever I think of the bad things I have to remind myself of the good things too. I am not defending him, I have done my fair share of trying to defend his actions. I just wish he would get it together and start acting like the living legend that he is. He could do sooo well for himself. I am not sure what it will take for him to just relax and not let things get to him so much.

it's become like a broken record......

........my guess would be, to admit to himself that he has a problem, and go see
a doctor..........
