Who Won The King of 8's Round Robin?

Better yet, if that was the case, Jude would be a 10(-4), just ask him. lol

Dennis

Jude would be at least a 10(-4)!

I am actually surprised Jude didn't offer the house the 7 ball after the tourny for $1,000.

In fairness guys, it was a good little tournament with only a few 8's from the state. There are probably 10 (at least) other 8's in the state that would have been able to win this tournament. I managed to get luck enough to win this time... but I could be dead last if we did it again next weekend. Derrick, Justin, Jude, Mike, and Todd all play good enough to win in that format. (Andy will make that list VERY soon)

being modest will get you nowhere carlos. You deserved the win and hands down played better than anyone else that day.

Lenny never won anything other than 3 challenge matches for the title against a bunch of chumps (myself included). I do not think lenny beating me, Tim or Brady had anything to do with him getting bumped. I think Lenny bragging too much got him bumped. Making posts to the forum every time you place in a tourney or saying you played perfect set of 9 ball with no missed shots might have something to do with it.
I dont think me telling people how I did when I played in a tourney or being proud of playing a perfect set of 9 ball got me raised since the committee is not raising me based on this forum.Ken and Jerry are the only ones I know who view here and Ken was opposed to me being raised,he has gambled with me and lost a few times but still just thinks I am a very solid 8 and another year of playing and I would be a 9.I respect his opinion as he has played with me,the other guys on the committee have not played with me or have seen me play because frankly I have played my worse on the stream then I have late nights gambling in Kolbys or wherever.I would say I have seen you play better then the day we played and perhaps the camera has something to do with it.I know you like to play just 9 ball, your right my 9 ball game is lucky,I dont like 9 ball and dont play it well,I do play one pocket and 8 ball much better but I can still play with all the 8s in 9 ball and have a chance to win at that game,in a race to 5 in one pocket I dont know many who are going to beat me.I beat you 5-3 in our one pocket session but in one pocket you can change your game based on your opponent,to be honest I was wide open playing you,if I tighten up I might not lose a game, that is the beauty of one hole.I respect your 9 ball game and think when your playing it right you are the favorite but I can still win,I think we should play all the games, one pocket,9 ball,8 ball, straights, and banks just to see how you fair.I think we would have fun and we could put alittle something on it,we dont even need a camera around, let me know when your ready and no excuses, practice up friend. ;)

lmao i was kiddin . i figured us to be in finals. the only ones that have actually seen me play decent is you , brady and stuckart. oh well maybe some 8s will stop askin for weight now that they see i can get tired lol i figured derrick, you and i even money for the finals. good job on your win man you deserve it. in hindsight i wouldn't have changed a thing (except sleep) the tourny was as good as you can get. it came down to a hill hill battle to see who faced you. good stuff i cant wait for the next one

Congrats Carlos and hopefully you dont get raised to a 9,lol,I think you would be much more deserving of the raise then me,perhaps at the next meeting they will lower me after all the heat they are getting, then I will drink up and be happy.

My point exactly, raising someone based on their bragging? Hmm, maybe an inconsistency on the part of the ratings committee. Show some proof that Lenny should be a 9.

I don't ever recall someone getting bumped based on bragging. If that were the case, mark me down to be a 6 please. :)

Better yet, if that was the case, Jude would be a 10(-4), just ask him. lol

Dennis

All you got to do is read lenny posts and the bragging is very evident. Just like him saying he dominated all the 8's he has played when the truth is that he did not dominate anyone. Either that or his definition of domination and mine are totally different. Lenny is not a 9 and I do not know what proof to show you. All you have to do is go to ontherailtv.com or the ontherail Ustream page and look at the videos and if you find 1 match lenny played great in and dominated then you will have your proof. Im guessing that if you are a 5 than maybe you would say he was dominate but anyone in their right mind knows that he is not a 9 and has never dominated any match on a live stream.

Hey guys! Sorry, I haven't been on here all day and just skimmed through all the big talk, wrong assumptions of who got raised for what reasons, some good facts, etc. etc.

First off, I want to say the Round Robin was fun to be apart of. I'm glad it came together and we got to have a good time. Overall almost 600 games of pool were played on the day. ($.75 a game would have been $450). Thanks to Bullshooters for letting us take over the room and for giving the players a Greens Fee.

I'm almost finished writing the story for azpoolscene.com and it should be up by tonight. Lots of great side stories from the marathon day.

Thanks to those that supported me in my win over Chuck. And the 38,000 vbucks that people threw away on Chuck. Thank you to the 1600 vbucks bet on me, all by people that I have played in the past 6 - 8 months.

As far as ratings go. Some corrections. Scooby won the King of 9's at Northern, but wasn't raised to a 10 because of that. Jack Scerca played in that tournament as well and didn't do very well. Both of these guys were already on the 'Watch List' for having been known to be close to 10's. Bernie won the King of 8's tournament and was brought up at the next meeting but wasn't raised. The person that brought her up didn't even reference the King of 8's win. Scooby, Jack and Bernie were all raised this past meeting. All by wide margins, as members did some homework on these 'Watch List' players, and evaluated their play (not who they played, or how much money they won, or what tournaments they won), just how they play their best game on their best table. For Bernie it was comparing her improvements over the past year or so. Many committee members have seen these people raise their games over time. Hence a raise.

As far as people on this forum. I've played Ken or with him a bunch of times. I think on big tables he is atleast a ball better than I am if not more. On barbox, I think we are pretty close. I think we are both 9's. Lenny is probably an 8 in rotation games, but in 8-ball and 1-pocket he is a 9. I know how he feels as do most 9+'s, as we are in no man's land. But that should just mean we have to practice harder and get even better and stop complaining about it. Isn't this the reason you guys don't like the ratings, "ARC acts like a crutch for players." Well, I think it acts like a crutch for better players to complain. Not all of them, but a lot. Dennis, Jimmy, etc. excluded. They worked their butts off to get that good. tap tap tap. Justin, I got to see some of your matches and thought you were a very good 8, and like you said about consistency, is the only reason you are not a 9 yet. Carlos played well, but I also saw a lot given to him. Some of which might have been that most picked him to win it all. Derrick was 5 - 0 at one point, running through people, including Carlos 9-5. He got way to drunk and fell off. Jude's play went up and down all day. Until he saw there was a slim chance of still getting in the finals, then he turned it on. Jason was not the same person as I've seen in the past, I know he lost interest after Mike didn't want to play for anything and wasn't doing it for the challenge match. Mike played strong for most of his matches, but kept hitting a wall. He was playing 9 speed at some but then 7 speed at other times. The big difference between 8 and 9 speed is consistency, tournament pressure, table time, etc. If you can focus more, win in clutch situations, get practice time, then you all could be 9's. The knowledge is there for most of you, and a few are close. Brady was having fun and dogging balls early, but when it mattered he buckled down and knocked Mike out of the tournament with a 9-8 victory. Ken didn't play very well most of the day, and seemed like something was bothering him all day. Andy played better than I thought he was going to and is going to be a great player soon. Todd started out poorly and found his groove half way through, once warm (6 hours, ha ha), he played at a real strong 8 speed or weak 9. He knocked Derrick out in exciting fashion as well.

In summary, sorry for the book, I think all 10 of you are 8's. Lenny is a weak 9 today, especially in rotation games, but has the knowledge/ability/stamina/focus to play them as a 9 as well. Ken, you are a 9 all day.

I have recorded many of the matches and you can view them on www.azpoolscene.com/streaming.htm . Please watch some and judge for yourself where these players are at. Including my match. I feel like I played pretty well, but Chuck didn't play well and was easily taken out of the match.

well said stuckart. i had a blast and got to hang out and meet all of you. the biggest suprise for me at the tourny was mr bval. he took his licks like a man!!!! and kept fighting his butt off til the last 9 dropped. i gained alot of respect for his game and him as a person. he is doing all the right things and will pass us all up very quickly if we dont watch out for him.

BTW - If any of you care to see just how bad I really play...and perhaps a chance to steal some of my $$$$$......I will be at Metro tonight....

Just look for the bald guy...;)

I do not know anyone who plays as much as you do lenny and at the rate your game is going up I think you could have been a 9 by the summer either way. When I met you they had you as a 7 and then you win a few and they bumped you to an 8 and then now they put you at a 9. You deserve to be rewarded for your hard work. However, if I just read the forums as my only source of info I can see why they raised you and it was on hype alone I think. All they have to do is look at the videos and they will see how you play. If from those videos they decide to keep you at a 9 then I think the ratings need to be thrown out the window. I am not bagging on you or your game so please do not take it like that. Now I do have a problem with you saying you dominated players when you did not. I know you didn't dominate me. I won 3 games of 1 hole against you and I never even play that game. The 9 ball was a joke. If you dominated me then post the proof since you said it!! It is all on video.
