Who would pay over $4.00 a gallon for gas today?

When I was leaving Vegas the other day, just as I got into California around 30 miles or so, I just had to stop at the gas station on Cina Rd off I-15 to see if they ever drop their gas prices. As many times as I've stopped there to get something to drink...I've never seen anyone getting gas. As you see in the first picture, you can see why! I'm always thinking to myself that it would take someone real desperate to pay them prices, and I always make sure I have enough gas to pass this place for sure. Well, today...was the first time I saw someone actually getting gas, and not just getting gas...but filling up as well! In pictures 3 and 4 you'll see who it was...I just couldn't believe it when I saw it with my own eyes!

Iwas talking to marcus(arthur cue) and he said gas in germany is 7.49 per gallon
 
My point was more to the effect of California tax dollars going to waste. If there is no choice but to pay that high of price, then there's no choice. I just don't believe the CHP should be supporting gas prices that high...unless of course they're getting kickbacks from the gas station:confused:

For some reason I expected to see someone like Efren or Earl. I'm not that surprised to see this, to be honest. Funny though:)

Those prices are unbelieveable. Here it's about $1.50-$2/liter, so maybe around $6-8 a gallon. Good thing I don't have a car!
 
That is pretty bad. Funnily enough I saw an ambulance filling up today & that got me wondering about deals they may have with gas stations. The price at the place was $2.14 a gallon. Head about a mile up the road & it's $1.99.

I'm just happy to see gas for less than 2 bucks again!
 
I filled up in Baker, CA down the road from this gas station about 30 miles for $2.53 a gallon, that's what makes it so bad paying over $4.00 a gallon, there really was no justifiable reason for the CHP to be paying them kind of prices for gas.

They should be bloody arrested for wasting taxpayers money! Seriously, someone should look into that. Bloody disgraceful.

I loved the irony of it at first. After I gave it some thought, though...maybe those cops (and the CHP) weren't doing a dumb thing after all. Could be that gas for government vehicles is exempt from taxes, so the net cost to CHP may be less than the cost down the street.

It don't work that way. Federal tax is federal tax, state is state, just like school districts, they have their own fuel pumps for school buses.

It isn't coming out of the cop's pocket so he doesn't care. I drive a company car with a fuel card, and I rarely look at the fuel price. The company I work for uses it's enormous size and clout to dictate what price they pay for gas. We use the Fuelman system, as do alot of companies. They pay fuelman a fee, like for a credit card, and fuelman negotiates better fuel pricing for the fleet vehicles. It's the same with police and other public vehicles...

I don't think it's as cut-and-dry as that, Glen. But I'll take your word for it...if you're SURE! But if you're not sure, consider that the scenarios that I and DelaWho? described might be true.
 
Maybe so. I asked at the station once why their prices were so high...the response I got in return was..."we're not that high, there's other stations around that are higher"...I laughed and replied, maybe you're right...I haven't been to Hawaii yet!

Yeah it kinda get to a redicilous point where it seems like a joke because of how much money it takes to fill a tank of gas.

...we pay about $1.75/L, which is about $7/g.

Unfortunately, I have a car, but luckily I carpool with my neighbors. :D

I've heard around here that companies can also get huge discounts if they consume certain liters of gas per month. It's on a scale basis. It can be lowered to about $0.30 to $0.50 per liter.
