Hello,

Just wanted to get your opinions on who you would choose to have this cue made. I'd like to get it made some day but want to try to stay in the $2500 and under range. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Do you want the points short spliced, full spliced or inlaid??

I'm not sure if the points could be spliced with the silver ring just above the wrap (then again I have little knowledge of cue construction), but it would be nice. Otherwise, inlaid points would be just fine.

If you ever get serious, PM me. I can get that cue made for you by at least 3 of the makers I work with and you'd have about 1G left in your budget for something else! It would look nice in Brazilian Kingwood, Madagscar Rosewood, or Camatillo Rosewood. Prewitt is working furiously on his new full-splice model which will hopefully be unveilled at Valley Forge in March. I could get Ed to make it but you'd be at the end of your budget. Would the hard curly maple pictured be okay?

That curly is gorgeous - thanks for all the suggestions! I'll be sure to keep all the above mentioned cuemakers in mind.

With a short splice, you can definitely get the rings there above the wrap. The vast majority of pointed cues with veneers are short-spliced, meaning the forearm is connected to the handle by some sort of joinery. There are only a handful of cuemakers doing "full" spliced cues with veneers.

And by "inlaid" cues, Ribdoner is talking about flat-bottom points with sharp veneers. These "points" are not V-groove, but shallow and basically a long, triangular inlay.

Since everyone is throwing out their favorite names let me add mine: Skip Weston. One of the best point/veneer guy in the business, and his inlaying execution (your fancy ringwork) has become top notch over the past couple of years.
