I have been seeing Larry Nevel’s named bantered about on these threads a lot lately and with good reason.

1) He has a great break.
2) Capable of stringing racks together.
3) Great shot maker.
4) Heck of a stroke.
5) Real good safety play.
6) Could beat anyone at any pool game on any given day.

These are 5 reasons why I believe Larry would be a great choice for the next action challenge. The only knock I have of Larry is sometimes he seems to let his head get out of the game. Bored, frustrated health? I don’t know why he seems to lose focus but I’m sure the action challenge could keep his interest

Also I have seen a lot of posters knock Larry for not gambling? Who right now wants action against him in a long race of nine-ball? Not too many. I’ve seen or heard some of the players mentioned on this thread. walk or run from his action. And that includes gasp some of the pinoys.

It would be interesting to see him play Jason Kirkwood.

Why?

And over the plethora of way more talented and accomplished pros such as those already mentioned??

Seems to me that the match up you propose...."Shane Van Boening vs Jason Kirkwood" would be as competative as the New England Patriots vs the football team from the Adam Sandler movie "The Longest Yard".

Other than a 2nd place in the 2006 Derby City Banks division, what major accomplishments has he in pooldom that would merit him being considered as a viable opponant for the reigning champ, SVB?

If you are his lil' sister or brother, his mom or dad or grandparent, or his girlfriend or wife, then I apologize for the sardonic comments. I understand if you're his kin. :)

It has been said that Alex absolutely loves to gamble.... That is a match i would love to see...
When I talked to Shane in Louisville, he said he loves to gamble too! I also know Alex does too....that would be a great match up for sure! We can thank Justin and Chad and the other TAR people alot for giving the opportunity for us to even think about this! Thanks for your effort. I'm looking forward to the next challenge and enjoyed watching all of them so far.

This Bribe Period Is Only Open Until I Run Out Of Food Or Come To My Senses... imo

I'm torn and I just can't decide between Bustamante & Reyes.... SO, my Vote is for sale.

In 8 ball at least, this would be closer than you think, alot closer than Shane vs. Earl, especially on bar tables. I'm not a Kirkwood fan, don't know him, but I have seen him play 8 ball on a Diamond 7' and he's a monster. There's plenty of people out there that appreciate good bar table 8 ball.

How bout a twinkie with some texas pete hot sauce for a busta vote???????

Terry I'm not related to Jason. But I have seen him play for the money. I've seen him beat the best player in Texas for the cash. He is much more talented than many of the players on the list. He's not much for tournaments. I'm actually surprised he placed at the Dirby city classic that year. I really think Shane or any Filipino out there would be in for a big surprise for the money. He is a phenominal player. The most talented I've ever seen.

I picked Archer because by the time the two them got through picking lint off the table it would be the cleanest table in the world. Of course, each rack could take 20 minutes.

Are you saying Shane is a lint picker? I've seen him play a few times and didn't notice anything like that. He doesn't play slow either IMO.

I know who Jason is and I've seen him play quite a bit...I definitely have a lot of respect for his game and while I agree he's a monster on the bar table (and plays pretty sporty on the 9 footer as well) he's definitely out gunned by SVB on either one...Jason might could hang or win in a short set, but in a long one he's got no chance. Shane's beat Matlock (tournament) and Bowman (gambling) both on the bar table without much trouble here recently and they'd both fall into about the same category as Jason Kirkwood.

Where's the option for "A 6 year old homeless girl"? :(

I went with schmidt. It's practical cuz nobody has to fly across the ocean, and he's young enough to deal with these lengthy sessions.

Sure we'd all like to see efren, but it doesn't seem likely unless even more money is involved, and it'd probably be even, and who wants to play efren even for like 50k? Yikes.

I think a race to 100 is right up Jason's alley. He came to Texas some years back and beat David G out of Houston. David G. had just beat Ismael Paez out of $ 35,000 after Ismael had just won the world 9 ball championship. He was playing a hustler out of Houston 10 a head for $10,000 a couple of years later. Jeremy Jones was a spectator of that match. A year after that they met up at the HOuston 9-ball open. Jason sent Jeremy Jones to the loser bracket and then they met up in the finals and Jason beat him again. Jason wanted to play him with the eight and Jeremy wouldn't have any of it then he offered even still wouldn't have any part of it. Just to recap he beat David G who beat the world nine ball champion and then sent another world champion to the losers bracket just to beat him in the finals again and then couldn't get a game with him after that.

afaik, morro and jeremy jones were both runners up at the world 9ball, not the winners. not to knock either of them, they are great players, but SVB and the people on the list, for the most part are on a completely different level.
