Since I was not as obsessed with this game (as I am now) back when these boys were playing, I decided before answering the poll, I would do my homework. I watched many hours of Accustats and other YouTube video of both of these greats. I have posted below a few of the vidz. I love both of these guys! The mouth and the masticator!
I am blown away at the quality of the play and style of which the game was played. Chirping and body English, highs and lows, just wonderful matches! I watched more than just Mike and Nick, I watched Mike and Nick vs. other opponents. Buddy, Earl, Johnny, The Miz etc. I watched 9 Ball and 14.1 sets. Even watched some contemporary content from Nick and some of his lecture/demos.
All of this means, my money and vote was for Mike. The way he sees the layouts and the way he finesses the CB is what put it over for me. I guess, if I was around and not doing other stuff back in the day, I would probably bet on both depending on the day/match/game.
Couple of things, the commentary in the 1990 "Greatest Match ever" was outstanding! Many times during the match Grady and Buddy had me rolling! The expertise, knowledge of the players and the inside scoop just made this match even better! I get the frustration at the end of the match from Mike coming down to one ball, why did he dog it so bad on purpose? Watched Dr. Daves review and his "Mike could have" options toward the end of his video and all I can conclude is he was on tilt.
Oh and this150 and out was a thing of beauty to me!

I agree….Nick for the cash….immune for panic under heat….Mike and Earl were cue breakers.
