Hi guys! I would like to know from you collectors or players...... who's cue would you buy if you only had one choice from the aforementioned cue makers.

Your time is appreciated!!

P.S. I apologize that I posted this topic here but its a good way to find out for myself who is hot (out of the four cue makers) from all you cue buyers and collectors. Thank you for understanding.

all 4 of them make great playing cues, better than most that cost much more.as far as workmanship.Skip Weston is the best no question.

Andy Gilbert

Imo Andy is crossing over from respected cuemaker to elite cuemaker. The stuff he brought to the Valley Forge show was perfect in every way. He also sold out early in the show BTW. Definately the man to watch and his wait list is reasonable but probable won't be for long . Both Andy and his wife were extreamly knowledgeable and nice to deal with. The others are good but my money is on Gilbert long term.

I don't think the decision would be based on the maker if the choices were between these four you listed, as the workmanship is without question on all of them. I think the final choice would be made on the style/looks.

I don't own one of his cues at this time, but I really like the work that Chris Nitti is doing. I think Chris has moved into the top level of cue making and his inlay work is outstanding. I like sharp pointed inlays and Chris does a great job with his cues. My second choice would be Skip Weston.

Nitti

I own or have played with all of these cues. For the overall price, playability, and look of the cue I would have to go with Nitti. His points are some of the sharpest and most even I have seen and his inlay work is very classic. Allthough from a collectors stand point you might have to take the Gilbert? I think Nitti is making a name for himself though.

PS, of course there are other cues out there that are just as good, probably better. More often than not though they are over priced!
Later..........

All of them do great work... can't go wrong with any of them. That being said, I went with an Andy Gilbert:

Definitely one of the best playing cues I've ever used.

Talked to Skip Weston the other day....man, what a nice guy. Very quick to respond on my designs. I have to say he is a lot faster than any other cue makers period!

We designed an entire cue together just less than 3 days and all with emails and pictures.

Can't wait to see the cue in 5 months.

Thank you all for your input and votes.

So glad to see I'm not alone on this one...
Chris Nitti. :D

But it goes without saying that all those guys are knockin' out GREAT cues! I figured most people would say Skip or Andy (as it seems to be the trend, but not by much suprisingly) as they have a bit better name right now, so in terms of collectibility, seems to be the better choice...

But I love Chris's cues. They look and play beyond great! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Nitti cues. His traditional designs are well executed and nice to see...he does everything by hand (which you just gotta respect!) and his attention to detail is outstanding...and his customer service and pricing ain't too shabby either. :)

For me, Chris is the definition of an "on the rise cuemaker." From the bocote sneaky pete that I own (one of the best playing cues I've ever tried regardless of $) to the high-end stuff I got to see at his booth at Valley Forge (and Bill Grassley now owns some of, of course lol :p), Chris has managed to time and time again satisfy both the utilititarian and artistic requirements of cuemaking in all of his work.

I'd go with a Nitti all day. But maybe that's just me...

I will give Nitti a call next :) I do agree with you, Nitti make some fancy cues. Amazing price for the number of inlays. Sharp points too. Never had one of his fancy cues fly by this way in north of Atlanta. Just love to try one of his cues.

Chris nitti and gilbert cue play fantastic. Thats not even my opinion. If ya play good then ya just no what a good cue hit's like. And there cue work is very nice. I would go for the either one of the 2. Skip makes a nice pointed cue to. But I think the nitti and the gilberts play a little better.:) :)

My vote went to Gilbert. I agree that he is becoming an elite cuemaker too. His cues are getting to be incredible! As far as the playability goes I'd say they are all pretty close but my taste is, again, for the Gilbert. I'm just suprised that there weren't more Carmeli posts no here!

Not to take anything away from the other three. Niti gets my vote.It must be something in the water in Florida becuse it seems Dennis,John and Chris get thiers from the same well.I think Chris is the new guy at the well.It used to be called the "Fountain of Youth" but should be called the "Fountain of Talent".
