I have been watching a lot of Niels Feijen videos lately, and I saw that he had great fundamentals and got to thinking..... Whose form do you think a beginner should try to emulate the most?

I believe that the most important thing a beginner can do is to create a solid form (and to improve on it).

Example: I would NEVER tell a new player to try to emulate a player such as Django Bustamante. WIth his sporadic a wildly limp stroke that looks astounding, it is just too unorthodox to reproduce. What do you guys think?

I think the best form I have seen personally would be Dan Louie.

Buddy, or Mark Wilson or Allison or.......

How's about Buddy Hall or Mark Wilson? They have decent form! :D

Allison would be a good choice as well. Jeff Carter is poetry in motion.

I assume fats is a joke. :P

Corey Deuel might be someone to add to the list as well as Ralf Souquet.

Still, I think Thorsten edges Ralf then Mika & Corey.

Yeah, I thought about Deuel, but remember guys...I only had 10 options available.

I did, however, forget about Buddy and Kim.

Fats is kinda a joke, as well as Busta.

It was a tough decision for me to choose between Archer and Homann, but I chose Archer simply because...well...I'm already picking $hit off of the table just like he does  !

I voted Thorsten. Also, the picture in his avatar yesterday was awesome. Maybe that has always been his avatar but only being able to see him on tv - that picture looks completely out of his character. It probably isn't but you know being on tv you have to be all well bahaved and crap.

I picked Mika, but I would go Buddy Hall over Mika. For a beginner, i would go with who is the most orthodox.

How about option 'none'?

You just take parts of each of your favourite pro strokes, and combine those into one unique ultimate stroke...yours!

You may like a particular player's stroke, but not all of it. For e.g. his stance may be too wide, weird head position, etc...

I voted for Mosconi having never seen him in person. But the videos show a compact, repiticious, accurate stroke from a more erect position than most players have now. This is not necessarily the powerful stroke used in 9 ball---but it is hard to argue with 526 consecutive, productive strokes.

For 9 ball---Buddy for consistency. But Earl made it happen.

By the way, I heard Earl talking to Buddy (at the DCC in 2006) about twisting his wrist outward for outside English and inside for inide English. Buddy agreed with Earl. Has anyone heard this too?

no one's sweeter to watch than hopkins, salvas, higgins, or kennedy.

Since we are talking about "who to EMULATE," I will say Earl (not including the recent bad attitude though). His stroke is so smooth.

If you are going to emulate, don't even try Reyes and Busta's style. You're not going anywhere.

Willie's slipstroke is very tought to emulate.
Practice strokes with griphand in the middle of the wrap, then on the last stroke, slide it back then shoot.
