Actually I was just wondering who amongst the AZ Biliards forum was going to the Lafayette, LA tournament this weekend? It's only a two day tournament.

I was thinking about going and wanted to make sure that some other ball bangers would be there.

This is a bar table tournament, racing to 7, so pretty much anyone can win. The last tournament couldn't have been more than 6 months ago. I believe they have two per year but I can't be sure about the dates of the last two.

The last tournament had 97 players and over $30,000 in the payout!!!!(tournament and 2 calcuttas) NOT BAD FOR A $40 ENTRY FEE. I think the two Calcuttas had something to do with the $30,000 payout.

I heard a banger came in second last time.

Anyways, if you are considering going, let me know.

Thanks,
JoeyA

Mr. JoeyA, I thought the word was out on you..... hanging with Efren and all, I'm suprised you can get any action at all.

If you see me on a float during Mardi Gras, you can yell out, "Throw me something Mr. JoeyA". Otherwise, it's just JoeyA.

And just so you know, I am only Efren's mini-tournament backer. He and I have broke bread only once but I am looking forward to sharing some Adobo Chicken with him.

FTR, I play regular pool very similar to Jay Helfert's speed, but I need lots of weight from him playing banks.

Hey joeya,

You've got to explain to me the "you got any gamble?" thing. I played this young guy from W. Virginia at VF last week. Beat him 5-1, 5-0. The first words out of his mouth was "you got any gamble?" not you played real well or something else to that effect. I just beat your brains in son. Of course I do. I play better:eek:!

I don't know you from Adam or anything about the Tourny and I am on the West Coast. I suspect you play real good..The question is Who's got Gamble, How about $50 you don't finish top 5 or $100 you don't finish top 2.........Now these may be bad bets on my part but it shows a little gamble I suppose let me know.

Well, people talk about gambling a lot but most don't do much of that. The reason for the thread was to get a few people's attention, kind of like calling someone a NIT but not quite the same but another important reason for the "Who's got gamble?" title was to showcase one of Louisiana's many cities where they believe in gambling at pool. A race to 7 is a gamble, ESPECIALLY ON BAR TABLES.

Bring your best horse and a pocketful of cash for the Calcutta because they like to bet high on the Calcutta at White Diamonds in Lafayette, LA.

It's this SATURDAY in case anyone wants to take a shot at the big payouts. I got a PM from one AZBer who is going but wanted to stay under the radar. At least I won't be the only banger there. :grin-square:

Your man was just a sore loser and was hoping to make up for his legitimate loss to you by trying to turn you into a sucker. It works for some, but not for me an apparently not for you. I've had professional players say similar words. Sometimes it hurts to lose and sometimes people think they can get over the hurt of losing in a tournament by having their opponent play gambling matches. It's childish but we all act like children at one time or another. When similar words are said to me, I simply smile empathetically and say, "I know you are a better player than me, I just got lucky". (I learned that from a new friend, well at least the latter part).

Joey, your so lucky I live far away:wink: The way I trashed Scott nobody want to play me. Ha ha!

Hey I'm just messin around:grin:

Sorry I missed VF, I would liked to have said hi.

Joey, I will be there with the banger who got second last time. Actually, I think he got second two times in a row. Maybe you and the banger can match up!

The "BANGER" ain't playing badly these days. He will fire it up though.

I am going to be there with another Banger in case anybody wants to "do something". bEven been known to match up a time or two myself. I havennn't played much at all in the past few months due to an injury, but that is pretty much in the past now and I'm a sucker again.

The guy I'm bringing though, stays on "ready' and that means pretty much anyone there, playing 9 ball.

FWIW, I'm trying to talk Chris into a $200 a man ring game on Friday night. That could get intresting in this spot.

White Diamonds is a great place and GREAT BURGERS>

I'm sure that your man won't have any trouble getting played. I would think Gary A would play him. If that doesn't work out, I hear that some banger named James W. is supposed to be coming in town.

The word on the street is that another banger of repute from the other side of the world will be there as well. No confirmation but this could be the most exciting tournament that Lafayette has ever had, ESPECIALLY if these two giants show up.

lol. It sounds like you have been getting schooled by Roy D'Fish.

Get on expedia.com and snag one of those cheap Internet flights and come play in the tournament.

Dude, if I played your speed I'd go on the road! :wave2:

I went to Junior high at Fatima in Lafayette, LA in the late 70's. That's a drinkin' gamblin' town. Especially when the price of oil is up! I loved that place, but I'm a Florida boy. I gotta be by the water, and the Bayou Vermillion don't count.

I have been following this thread since I jumped in it under the wrong pretenses, however, I now wish to be involved and don't have the time / money to travel that far so this is my proposal to any takers...Gentle stakes $20 per bet you pick the player my bet is that they don't finish top 5. Once a player is picked he cannot be used by anyone else. I'll go 5 times so it should be me against 5 different players I'm betting against all 5 to finish in the top 5. My intentions are not to make much or lose much just to be involved. Sounds like a strong tournament. PS: If any of this is not legal or against some rules let me know and I'll withdraw my offer.

My apologies to whoever came in second last time. My banger actually came in third. :o

All bangers are not created equal.
