Who's the best pool player that also makes cues?

Searing when he was playing was always dangerous on a very competitive Florida tour. He gets my vote for a balance of cue making and pool playing ability combined. If u just count playing ability alone I think Putnam right now gets it done the best w nevel very close. I'm not sure who would win between those two. All time player not just current and my vote goes to Sigel w Varner a close second.

Good pool players

I like stakehorses idea of a cuemakers tournament. I'd pay to watch that. It actually might work. They can also promote their cues while they're at the tourney.

. Varner and Sigel would obviously be top two but imo they should not be counted. It would be like if Shane decided to make cues or put his name on them.

Exactly. And I'll hear none of this "praise from other cuemakers" like say from Dan Janes saying Sigel earned his spurs junk. LOL

maybe its just me, but i think there is a huge difference between making cues, and having a cue spit out of a machine, and having your name stamped on it...

so my vote is going to go to Rick Howard...

but i think a cue maker tournament would be a good idea...

isnt there a good player that lives in Birmingham, Al that makes cues? cant remember his name but i think i remember hearing of him...

Dennis Searing has won a pro tournament and is one of the best cue makers of all time!

On both counts he beats Bill Stroud.

Dennis Searing is in the top 5 as making cues play and look great. He still plays league once a week and beats everyone who he plays. Add some cash to it and your in for a full out war. I watch him take a set from Nick Varner about 2 years ago. made it look simple with a bunch of us watching. He handles his cue making a good a anyone else out thee. I always think of perfection when it comes to his game plus his cue making experience.

Richard Harris was a world beater in his day (haven't seen him in over 15 years)...Knew him when he first started making cues in Greenup, KY...(he treid to buy all his first ones back)

Jeff Olney for sure. You can check out some of his YouTube videos by typing in Jeff Olney.

I don't think Varner makes cues. I believe he has them made in China. I know his cases are made in China.
