Why are cyclop balls the balls of the tournaments????

You understand sponsorship, right? Tournaments have been played on all sorts of tables with all kinds of balls depending simply on who the sponsors are.

Remember the Elephant balls?

Gee wiz

And I thought all those foot ball players were wearing the same shoes cause they got a good deal?

I fully understand the reason for use. However, there is no reason why they have to suck in color. I have no idea how they play, but for me, on stream, they are hard to discern.

I have never heard anywhere near as much bad mouthing other top name balls as I do Cyclop balls. Aramith raised their price and some promoters went for the much cheaper Cyclop balls. Johnnyt

If you played Centennial Aramith and Cyclop for 30 minutes each on new cloth Diamond tables you would quickly see how inferior Cyclop ball are. They are crap. On new table conditions with super tight cloth they will slide and skid many times more often than premium ball sets.

Really?

At one time I owned all 3 sets. Aramith Pros, Centennials and the Cyclop. I sold the others and kept the Cyclop because in my honest opinion they were better than any of the others. I now have a regular set and the skittle set of Cyclop.

This debate is like asking about Chevy or Ford. I would rather push my Chevy than drive your Ford. There are a lot of people that like the Cyclop balls.

I have a new table, and Cyclop and Araimith T.V. pro balls and I switch them back and forth every couple of weeks (just for fun) and there is little to no difference. I would like to see people appreciate the fact that competition is good for QC and price............

All about that money.

People still complain about the colors of the TV set. They've been in use in several big events for well over a year now. If you still don't know which balls are which, mthat's a personal problem on your end.

Unfortunately a case can be made really easy that basic principles of economics simply don't apply to the pool world. Once something becomes popular or a company convinces people that their product is "it," the quality goes down and the price goes up.

this reminds me of the incident with Raj Hundal and the "f****n Cyclops balls" at the All-Japan Open. here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GHRi5-ZcQ8 at 1:20:05:grin-square:

It sure seems like it should be easy to accept the choices, (regarding cue balls, balls, tables etc.) that the promoter's of the best run tournament in the U.S., have chosen to go with...Greg and Mark, are smart businessmen..They are not investing thousands in the DCC, to save a few nickels, by using inferior equipment !

The equipment used, is as good or better than anything on the market !..Learn to adjust if you are not happy with whats provided...Anybody notice, that the same top champion's, always seem to find a way to prevail, with very little complaining ?.. Bottom line will always be; "It ain't the Arrow..It's the Indian" ;)

I'm pretty sure if I tossed enough money towards any tour that they would be more than willing to play with "PaulieBalls".

Sorry yall cause this is a little off topic but I couldn't see starting a new thread for just one question but I actually am very curious and would like to find out - THANX in advance everyone!

Does anyone remember say 6 months to a year ago the " patented " chrome ball set that was introduced on here that they were doing some kinda crowd funding to facilitate getting these chrome balls to market? Well im curious if they ever made it to market, if so how are they selling, and if anyone has a final production set and how do they play as compared to the other few major premium sets???
