Why are pro pool player so afraid to gamble?

I guess the days like when archer ran a 10pack on Busty
for 10K(?). Then Busty double the bet and won is lone gone.

Now world class pool players play an exhibition match on a barbox, then just go home afterwards content with their payday.

Just saw the flyer for fight night with oscar vs justin and oscar vs skylar. Very excited to see that.

Because almost everyone has figured out that NIT means someone that won't let you steal from them. Johnnyt

Scott asked Efren's backer for a game there with Efren. They didn't want to play.

Probably a good call by Efren /his backer.

Efren might have been winded. Played two big sets on the last day.

Wasn't Scott done the day before?

Wasn't Scott in the booth the last day, got to watch Efren shoot at wrong pocket.

Timing is crucial to making a good game.

If memory serves, pre match fatigue/travel may have factored into other matches between these two in recent years.

Now if Scott was 62 too and had not had a nap....maybe it could have been gambling vs something else.:sorry::sorry:

...difficult to believe Scott wasn't making the same advances toward Alex, or was he?

...btw, I don't know sh1t...just wondering

Sound logic, but if there is a loser yhere has to be a winner too correct? Not like all the money evaporates into thin air and everyone goes home broke right????

Sure, but just because I lose money doesn't mean I have to stick around until I lose all my money.

+1

I always laugh when someone calls someone else a NIT. What's the goal in gambling? To win the money. Generally, a pool match is decided before ever hitting a ball in the negotiation. The players wolfing on facebook either think they have the advantage or are being staked and essentially have a free roll. It's how the casino's win money in the long run the house advantage. So, pool players are trying to get a players advantage. But being called a NIT because someone wants to get the advantage that everyone else is trying to get is being a bit hypocritical.

Because gambling (= random outcome) is for losers.
Betting money is based on an estimated guess to win.

Then again, why be all so serious? Pool's a sport. You WORK and you get paid.

After the accustats 1p challenge, did none of them gamble?

There was a collection of shane, scott, efren, justin hall, danny smith, and alex p.

Each one of them left the event with $2K or more with all traveling expenses paid for.

Maybe they did and no stories were told about it?

Why do they have to.

Maybe...

I doubt most of them have a bunch of money to "gamble" with. I also think there is a difference between "gambling" on a pool game and playing pool for money. The smart ones are probably sure they will win before they put cash on a bet.

Also, how many want to "gamble" with SVB, Dennis O. and Alex. I think the 3 of them would "gamble" with about any one.

Every pro that comes into my home room is looking for a game. During the SBE many came through and they all found games including SVB. Shane had to give the seven and the breaks in 10 ball on a triple shimmed gold crown and still won. It didn't help that his opponent kept scratching on the break. Not good against SVB.

Thinking back, its not that unusual for pros to gamble after a tournament. They just didn't this time around.

After Corey won that 1p tournament at Hard Times last yr. Him and Shane played for all his winnings(and some?). Shane gave Corey that big spot playing 10b and beat him bad.

After Efren won a 1p tournament last yr, Scott then took his money afterwards. Efren played 1p tired for days and late at night, and still agreed to play Scott.

Shane's also known to hit the crap tables as well(during the Ultimate 10b tournament?)

Its just that these guys will bark back and forth on facebook, then play exhibition matches with none of their money on the line.

Go to Derby City next time and pull out a roll of cash and ask them if they want to gamble.
