Why are some rails so bouncy?

One pool hall near me has extremely lively/bouncy rails. Why is this? The tables are red label diamond bar boxes. The 9 foot diamonds in the same room have normal rails. All red label and blue label diamond bar boxes I've played at anywhere else seem to have normal rails. But for some reasons these particular tables have bouncy rails...how can this be?

There's no way it's the humidity. It's just too drastic of a difference to be that.

Don't all diamond red labels have the same rails?

Can the cloth around the rails make a difference? As far as how stretched it is? .

Humidity??

Here in FL the tables can change from perfect to bouncy in a matter of minutes, depending on the AC....

With my limited knowledge I'd guess rails too low
Both too low and sticky are factors. I played on one rec center table where you could get six widths shooting across the table and not too hard, and the cloth wasn't that fast.

We have the same thing going on by us. There are quite a few red label Diamonds around our town but 1 bar in particular has very fast or "springy" red label Diamonds. It is not unusual to see the cue ball bounce long rail to long rail 4-5 times, even 6 sometimes. When I tested the table it went 6 1/2 table lengths up and down the table probably hitting cue ball a little shy of break speed and I do not have a very high break speed, low 20s max. My updated Gold Crown consistantly goes 4 1/2 -4 3/4 table lengths hit the same way.

I think on junk tables, or 50 yr old tables that have had the cushions replaced many times, it may be the cushions are too low.

But on Diamond tables, I don't think its a miss-installation of the cushion. Its either the humidity, or the classic difference [problem?] with Diamonds in that they play way different than any other commercial table out there, due to the rubber used and how its installed [by design]. Horse beat to death:)

You could easily take a piece of cardboard or something and make a gauge to check the nose height all the way around.

Would be cool if your phone could be used as a hygrometer, but i don't think there's an app for that :)
