why are the british the best in the world?

I admire a great player...don't care where he's from.

First off, no American born Scott would ever consider themselves "of British descent". Second, I'm an American by birth so national linage prior to my family leaving the realm of the old whore means $#!+ and is an example of equivocation on your part at best. Third the challenge still stands.

That makes you fully imported but locally assembled.

In case nobody noticed, a stupid dumb farthead Brit just lost in the finals of the World Snickers tournament held at the Crustable.

Not so good now, aye?

The four semi finalists were all English, so it was no surprise to hear that an Englishman ended up runner up really.

Except for the highly contrived Mosconi cup, pool seems to have accomplished that. Who hasn't rooted for Efren against all comers?

I do root for Efren against anyone but Efren is not only great but humble also
A rare combination. As far as the best go........ The KO boys are tuff as is Dennis O
None of the above being British and all being very humble champions. I don't know of a Brit that's the favorite over any of them

Actually, I have had feelings against players from other countries due to the fans, not the player him/herself. Every time I read YouTube comments about how snooker players are gods and just regular pool players play an easy game I have less and less respect for the snooker players by association because I start to think that those snooker players think the same thing and look down on other cue sports.

If there is someone saying how England is better than anyone else, it puts negative feelings in my head towards other from that country.

So a player that I was neutral or maybe even a fan of, I now look at as a pompous ass due to thinking of others from that country as jerks.

Except for maybe Ralph Soquet. There could be a German asshole on here spouting crap all the time and I'd still think highly of him.

Very true. He is definitely not helping Darren's or any other Brits fan base
Quite the opposite.

A few fans on YouTube put you off Brits? I doubt there's a pro snooker player in the world that "looks down" on pool.

Some Brits will always say they are better than everyone else. Some Americans too. That Anglo-Saxon superiority complex is a national trait that we share. Despite that national trait, when you get behind the show (as with all other nationalities and their shared personas) people aren't like that at all.

Aside from the OP's possible trolling and the many reverse trolling responses, some posts on this thread have alluded to the professionalism and structure and training associated with snooker. On top of that, the percentage of British WPA World Championship winners since players from Britain (who grew up in a snooker environment) tried their hand at pool is actually very high. That's written down in the history books.

Why anyone needs to slag off Brits, Americans, pool or snooker, or divorce themselves from facts, is beyond me.

Well....I hope everyone understands that 'Swansong' and 'A man for all reasons' were
just winding us up....probably a pre-Mosconi ritual.

I've been to Merry Olde quite a few times (my Colonial radar was on full blast) and I
was treated wonderfully and always had a great time.

And the British aren't above learning a few things from across the pond.....
...the ungainly term 'gyratory circus' became 'round-about' because of an American newsman.
.....articulated lorry? well, sod that for a lark....semi is short and concise.

I had some great times in English pubs....:)

Indeed. If I were to turn up to the pub late and tell my mates I'd been hit by an articulated lorry they'd say why didn't you get yourself seen to. And by the way what's an articulated lorry. If I said it was a semi truck they'd say oh no you're not going to break out into a bit of Merle again are you? But we know what you mean. Thems the rubs.

Too many variables in there. Best stick to men and women, and concentrate on the mainstream pro types, so english, american, chinese 8 ball, 9 ball and snooker.

Where did you get your blackball figures from? The far larger world rules would be exclusively british, i would think.

Alright, where did they get their figures from? Jayson shaw won it after 2006, i think.

They were WPA events, so I imagine they got the results from themselves.

Jayson Shaw, from Scotland, is listed as the blackball 2010 Open Singles champion and the 2006 Juniors Singles champion. I didn't include players listed as being from Scotland, Wales, or Ireland.

I agree, it's complicated.

The Brits want you to include Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland which they technically own, even though they can't understand a damned thing those people ever say. The Welsh are not fond of Anglo-Saxon's because they are Celts, which explains why there are more fortresses than Brits in Wales. Ireland is a different country altogether, except for Northern Ireland, which wishes it were a different country altogether. The Scotch are too pissed off to be included because they're waiting for a formal apology over the hanging, drawing and quartering of William Wallace seven centuries ago, not that they hold a grudge. The Scots would want independence but it's like a bad marriage, people just stay together and sleep in different rooms because they can't afford to break up. They are the only people I know of who sound pissed off growling "good morning to ya".
