I belong to three sites, one Golf, one sailing and this one. The troll on the golf site is the owner, if you post something he does not agree with he will tear you up and possibly ban you. The sailing site had one troll who was made an officer of the Association that the forum supports and he changed. This site is so big and as stated attracts people from pool that I would never start a conversation with on the street so it seems so far that this is a reasonably well behaved group. I am very ignorant about pool so I am sure I say some dunderheaded things at times but no one has handed my head back to me so far. Remember, Familiarity Breeds Contempt; maybe some people are more tired of others than they realize and read their posts more harshly than they should.

John, you wrote the book on trolls and antagonizing others. You chased me around and lied about me all over the interent all because of your bruised ego. You contiunually break the rules here but yet go unpunished. There are several examples in just the last week. One was that post you made in the WFS section where you posted to "warn" others about the counterfeit Flowers cases. Really? Wasn't that just another reason for you to post and call attention to yourself and your business? There was nothing for sale which breaks the rules. And according to that rule, the thread should have been deleted. But was it? No, of course not because for some reason you are above the law here.
Then recently, you outright called another member an idiot, which again is against the rules but again nothing happened.
Now to address what the OP asked.....
It's because of members like John Barton who continually act like they have no courtesy for others. Anytime he posts it makes a lot of the otherwise good posters want to speak up. I know personally about 99% of the time I want to say something negative it's because of John.
What is sometimes perceived as trolling is often times just a stong reaction to what others say.

First of all let's get the history straight between you and I. I posted warning people about a scammer who was raffling off FAKE products. He was asking for the full retail price for what were counterfeit cases. You had nothing better to do than open your mouth and post a derogatory and defamatory comment that distracted from the issue which was to get the scammer taken care of.
I chastised you for that and you got all pissy.
Then to retaliate you fabricated (lied) about your cue being damaged in a Sterling Wave case (my design). I busted that lie and outed you as the liar that you are.
At the recent Super Billiards Expo you had every opportunity to bring the case to the show and speak directly with me, with the general manager of Sterling Matt Carter and with the owners Scott and Heidi Taylor. You didn't bother, I guess because you didn't want to be shown to be a liar in front of witnesses in real life.
So that's where we stand, you and I.

Regarding the recent thread on the WFS I put it there because I noticed that a highly regarded seller had sold a case that he mistakenly represented as a genuine J.Flowers case. Rather than make a spectacle in his thread I contacted him privately and let him know and made a public thread with guidelines for anyone else to use. That you see this as somehow trying to get attention is only your own insecurity.

Regarding your feelings towards me, stuff it. You and I had ZERO interaction on this forum UNTIL you got in my business with slanderous comments. If you truly felt SO STRONGLY about me and my style then why didn't you speak up before that? I know why. It's because you are a liar who doesn't like to be called on his lies. You would love to be able to make whatever comments you want and lie about anyone and anything you want to without being challenged. Well, you might get away with that when you do it to other people, especially those who are not on here to defend themselves against your comments, but you will not get away with it with me.

It all depends upon what your idea of a 'hater' is. Is somebody a hater because they disagree with information that you put out on a forum and say so? There are plenty of 'upstanding' posters that love to push buttons or get away with name-calling, but they're not called on it. I'm not here to play the popularity game, I'm here to talk pool. If what I say gets somebody's panties in a bunch, oh well.

I don't have a problem with being disagreed with. Unlike many here I am able to stand corrected when someone proves me wrong. But a hater isn't out to prove me wrong, a hater is out to say anything just to get a reaction whether what they say is true or not. Most of the time what they say is not true and they know it's not true but they know that no one can really prove it one way or the other without effort.
So safely behind the keyboard they can attack from a position of relative anonymity. Even if they are known they are still safe because no police force gives a crap about things people say about each other said on internet message boards.
For example I can say that Banks is a convicted child molester and grandma rapist who bilks old women out of their social security checks and uses the money to create child porn. Can you prove otherwise?
You in turn can say that I employ slave labor and six year olds in China. Obviously I am the easier target because my real name and business is known. Everyone knows who I am and that I live and work in China. So you can lie about me all day and I am forced to defend myself because of you using stereotypes and outright lies to troll me.

This thread is about people that like to start trouble for whatever reason. Not about disagreeing with anything. Check this out, I talked to Buddy hall the other day and he told me a guy from Denver, CO. Called him and said that he got Buddy's number from me! I do not know this guy at all. I have never talked to him before. And I would never give Buddy hall's number out to anyone. As he asked me not to give it out to anyone. Banks I think you are a good guy. I never see you give anyone problems. And I hope this clears up my thoughts for this thread!!!

No, it's not clear. Maybe in your warped sense of reality it might me. And I find it funny that I removed all my posts on the counterfeit thread (to make you stop whining btw) and now you try to put words in my mouth that I never said. And to an end, you and I didn't have any interaction until YOU left me negative rep for a post I made asking if Matt Carter (NOT YOU) checked with the seller of the counterfeit cases before posting in the open forum.
I asked you many, many times to cite where I lied. You haven't once done that. You have offered your opinion WITHOUT proof as I did when I posted my photos. You busted NOTHING!
While we are on that subject again...... the interior of that case that damaged my Bender was COMPLETELY different that the one you used to "bust" my lie it's not even funny. The padding in the one you used was MUCH thicker and the case wasn't even the same. The one that damaged my cue was a Wave case and the one you used to "bust" my lie was one of your custom cases. BTW, how do you even call yourself a case maker any more when all you do is have a bunch of others make them for you. You spend a lot of time bashing Jack and others but at least they actually make thier own cases that they put their names on. And before you go citing all the carving work that is done by other's I'm referring to actually building the case. When was the last time you actually built a case all by yourself anyway?
I didn't bring the case to show Matt because I no longer have access to it. My girlfriend and I broke up and it was her case.
The real truth is that you have lied, threatened me, and gone out of your way to discredit me. You also continually break the rules here and nothing ever happens to you. I'm beginning to think you have some incriminating photos of someone you use to blackmail them. Why else would you be the only one on the forum that is allowed to break the rules without repercussion?

True, but that's not the definition considered by many people. Some people get upset rather easily, sometimes over a few particular things, and lump all of those people into one group. It gets even worse when discussing ghost-like things where neither side can really be proven or disproven. Yeah, some people do like to goad others and see what kind of reaction they can get, but there are more than just those that get put under the troll/hater/antagonist label. Sometimes it's easier to discredit(whether it be a hater/troll or just somebody in disagreement) than it is to follow through the argument to the end.
Leave it to a troll to rationalize their behavior.

Try to remain positive, after all, we all are just trying to learn more about our sport, and we are in this together.

That's true, you can't lump all the disagreeing ones together and call them trolls but some are much more obvious about it.
I like this post...'trolls' and 'haters' get over-used, like racial epithets.
I love arguing...but it should be a mutual search for the truth.

A guy called Buddy Hall from Denver, CO. And told Buddy I gave him his phone number. I do not even know this guy and I have never talked to him before. I need to post his name on AZB! What do you think about this? I have had several people PM me and ask for Buddy's number. I was asked by Buddy to not give his number out. I do not like to argue much at all! Now Buddy believes me and I am glad of that. But why would this guy do this??? Thanks PT109.

Its not so many haters as it is so many easily butt hurt if everyone doesnt pour flowers and perfume all over they're posts. Don't ask for an opinion if you dont want to hear things you might not like.
Then you have the incessant thread starters of threads with zero point what so ever. Hey I had a random thought, lets starts a thread. In fact I'll ask a random question and not even offer my own answer or input! Then when it dies in the first 5 seconds, let me bump it a hundred times a day so people have to respond. Uhh...spam?
And there are for sure more stereotypical 'trolls' here than in the past. The difference is now no one here is smart enough to let the idiots off themselves. Everyone has to set the idiot straight. Give him exactly what he came here for... the attention no one shows him in the real world. Now hes thinks hes an E Rockstar..... and hes right.
There little insight posted anymore , no one with a sense of humor. Its become a big frilly bowl of fruit punch surrounded by the few that want to spoil the punch the 'in' crowd won't let them sip.
