The Semeinole Tour is without a doubt one of the best money tours in the nation. That's my opinion.
I was just wondering why many of the players do not support it?
This weekend at Fast Eddies in NC there were only 36 players.
36 PLAYERS, WTF!
Events like these should have 64 or 128 players every time, again, my opinion. What's yours, Why are the players not going to and supporting these great events?
Here are the brackets http://mxmbilliards.com/2009/07/seminole-pro-tour-storms-into-fast-eddies-billiards/
Looking at the brackets makes me think of a gost town with all the byes on the chart. It's just stupid that more players are not supporting these events. Somebody, please explain this to me. Did the Sem Tour piss off the players?(NO), Is it a bad deal for the players? (NO, It's a great deal) I have never heard anything bad about this tour and all I see is the Tribe doing good things for pool and the players. I just don't get it.
If they were to lower the entry fees, I am sure they would get more players. The Predator tour averages 50-60 players and there is a lot of lesser skilled players that make a fuller field.

Understood, no one would be complaining about that. But to a lesser skilled player, the money added doesn't mean as much. We are less likely to get there.
The original poster asked why there aren't that many players. High entry fee may be one of multiple reasons.
Now, is the $6500 based on a full field of 64? If it is, then less entry fee would possibly allow for more players, for more potential of the full added money.

OK, folks, I hate to play the "Devil's Advocate", but I am going to spell it out for you folks who are not involved in the industry. Because??? For one, I'm never the one to keep her mouth shut, plus, I L-O-V-E controversy and touchy subjects contrary to my other half who likes to keep peace with in...
OK. Here is why you wont get lot of players with $6,500.00 added.
1. Economy: everyone's already chimed into it, but let me break it down for the people who thinks $6,500.00 added is a lot to go around, because, it's not!
*** If a player wants to travel, they are looking at an average of $500.00 for air or rental vehicle. After that another $100 or more for the hotel unless, they are sleeping in their car, little more for food, gas...what the heck, it's just expensive when you're on the road. PERIOD!!1
2. Past experiences with "SHADY" promoters.
*** I won't name any specific names, but you would be falling off your chairs when you realize that so called promoters who's really in it for their pocket only.
IT IS SUCH A F*CKING JOKE when I see people praising some promotion companies for doing something great for the the game when the winner just break even for the event, LOL. Like $20,000.00 added but $6.000.00 for the first place, are you really serious@! When they had to travel across the glob to get there?
OK, so where does all the money goes? Hidden fees and registration fees as high as $50.00 per person, LOL. I just want to know, where does the registration fee goes? to the Models you pay to hire??? Haag!
3. Ignorance. People think when there's more than $1000.00 added it will draw lots of "Pro" players from all over the world and they don't need to play... yeah... sad but yeah...
So... should I go on?

I believe the Economy is a big factor in the " No Shows" in tournaments.
I am fortunate that I have a great job and consider this as a hobby. I go to as many tournaments as my money and wife will let me, lol.
For example, I attended a tournament this weekend, and right before the players meeting, I would say there was only about 15 players. This is the Dallas/Ft Worth area, where I know there are hundreds of players that can afford 40$. I decided not play because I didn't think the payback would be worth the entry. This is happening everywhere. People are just tight with there money.
On a different note, I think I have preached this before. Why don't tournaments directors handicap the entry instead of the tournament. I really believe that if the amatuers pay less than the pros, that it would make
first place healther. Lets face it, more often than not, the pros are going to cash in these kind of events. If the pros pay 150, 100 for the next level and 75 for the lowest tier, this would pad the bottom line. I know people are tired of handicap tournaments, but we need to figure something out that works for the sake of the game.
well i can tell you that the 6500 is added regardless of players, whether they have 2 or 64.
you should really look in the seminole tour a little more, they dont charge fees to play and all the money goes in the middle.
look at the payouts for this event. 36 players and 1st is 3k
there are plenty of tournaments that rape the prize fund, but this is the one that does not and thats why its befuddling to me and a lot of other people on here why they dont get full fields
The Seminole Tour is also one of the tours that actually listens to the players, takes suggestions, and they are constantly working on making the tour better for everyone.
It's not a joke, and it's not a bad payday when a player cashes in these events. It's actually a pretty good deal. For $150, you get to play some of the best players in the world. Of course, when someone like me signs up and draws Johnny Archer or Thorsten Hohmann in the first round, only to draw another world class player in the loser's bracket, I've paid $150 to watch other people pocket balls. That's life.
However, for players such as James Roberts, Neil Fujiwara, Donny Mills, Tony Crosby, and others - its a great way for them to keep their competitive game at a world class level - and keep in mind these are regional/local events for the Florida players.
It's win/win. Kevin does a great job - in fact he works his ass off to make every event run smoothly. The player's here love it - KF Cues Tour one week, Pechauer SE Open the week after that - The Seminole Tour once a month - not to mention the weekly events at local rooms... believe me, Florida is a great place to be a pool player.

:angry::frown:
The Friday start continues to be joykill for me. I just can't take a day off of work.
If they played sat/sun/mon then the only people who would miss monday would be those already in the money.
Its too bad for the regulars in the Seminole tour that the Friday start date snuffs out alot of the working joe entries. The working joes have many fine characteristics that can be described in ways like "soft" "easy" "sucker" etc.
I guess that means I'm part of the problem, right?
