Why are there only 36 players at the $6,500 Added Seminole 10-Ball Tour in NC

I don't see how ANY tour can compare itself to the Seminole Tour. If I could draw my ball, I would live in Florida all summer to play in these.

True. Prob the best Tour to be a winner in...of course you gotta play damn good to finish in the top few!

Last month Stevie Moore lost in the first round and drew Tommy Kennedy in the first round of the one loss side (TK had lost 1st round to Monster John). Stevie lost a hard fought match to TK. A player of Stevie Moore's caliber going two an out should tell you how strong the level of play is on the Seminole Tour.

FWIW, TK inherited Johnny Archer soon after his match with Stevie.

You know you make an interesting point. For me to play in most of these tournaments, I have to take off Friday and Monday. If the tournament started on Saturday I could fly in on Sat morn and only have two nights of hotel expenses instead of three.

Yeah, that's just not considering the working player.

"Back in the Day" on the FL Tour you could even just show up Saturday morning, I think there was a 9am player's meeting, draw at 10 and play started around 11.

They would play down to the money rounds, meaning if you did NOT cash, you were out the first day, and could go home. If you lived within a few hours drive, you could, in theory, play the first day, and if you didn't cash, go home without spending the $$ on a hotel room.

Sure there were some late nights, but it kept those working players in the field. I played one when I was 19 at Baker's in Tampa and we had like 117 players of ALL calibers, from lowly me, up to Crane, Mizerak, Kennedy, Hall, Hatch, Parica, etc etc.

Taking a $150 tourney and making it a 4-day event guarentees you'll only see the "working class" players who want to build up to it, and burn vacation time to attend.

I have heard from SEVERAL local short stops (Here in Orlando) that it isn't the $$. If they could play without having to take days off, they'd be at almost every one.

You want to make it exclusive to "full time pro only".... wait they've already done it. :frown:

Even when you are unable to finish in the top few, it is still a good idea to occasionally test your mettle against this field. It will season you in many ways and make you a better player.

Just wanted to chime in here real fast. Thanks to those who have said nice things about the Tour. I'ts nice to know that people see the hard work put in sometimes.

I wanted to confirm with James that the money is there no matter the number of players thanks to the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and it all does go back to the players.

There have been many good suggestions so far in this thread and like somebody previously mentioned, we will take them into consideration as we move forward with the Tour. Unfortunately we will never be able to make everybody happy. Whether it is the "pros", the "working class", the "C-D level player", etc. We just cannot cater to everybody and it will in turn leave some people upset. The Seminole Tribe will put on the best event possible to support the industry, as well as exposing the Tribe's good name to the entire country when possible.

You are all always free to email me any other thoughts or concerns regarding the Tour, and I will get back to you with an answer (if there is one). :)

Thanks again...

My buddy Ray has been at every event. He tells me all the time how great the tour is. Every event though he takes off Friday and usually Monday too. The Seminole Pro Tour is nine events this year, which would burn through 9 to as much as 18 vacation days to attend. The travel costs and hotel I could fade, but nearly a month of vacation days? I only get 20 total days a year of benefit time, and 10-15 of them are always called for to go on vacation with the wife and kids.

thanks very much for posting!

Kevin,

Very nice to know that you are interested in what we have to say.

You are quite correct that you can't please everyone. Perhaps the most interesting idea from this thread is to move the start day of the tournaments to Saturday. This would have no impact on the full time pro's and the people with flexible schedules but could have a very positive effect on the semi-pro shortstop level players that have to consider jobs and time off. Increasing the size of your fields benefits everyone.

I remember when groups of us piled in a vehicle Friday evening after a quick shower and drove all night swapping drivers to compete on Saturday and Sunday, driving until the wee hours Sunday night to be back to work Monday. It can be done by young and hungry players. If the event rolls into Monday, as has already been mentioned those missing work are cashing. Much more appealing than taking off Friday to go two or three and out.

Thanks again for your attention to this thread. It is much appreciated.

Kevin, James and all :)

It's Sunny here. I guess I need to explain my reply more clear. Even though the original thread was about small turn out for the Seminole Tour, my answer was general to all tournaments that wasn't filling up.

My apology to Seminole Tour, if my answers sounded directed to you. In my mind, I thought I stated it clearly, but sometimes, I think so fast, my fingers can't keep up with me:rolleyes:LOL.

One thing for certain, I do group the Seminole "guys" one of the few "positive" group left in the industry, however it's getting harder and harder to keep up your good deed when so much negativities had clouded our attitude of the game.
