Bob, I'm preparing myself for Turning Stone. If I would have went up to New York City, I may have burned myself out. I've been planning on the Turning Stone for over 6 months now.
I can't play tournaments back to back like I did when I was 20 years old. It usually takes me a week to recover. So that's why I didn't go the Big Apple. I would have liked to have went, but it would have just been too much.

I was wondering if you could give some names of some good pool halls in NYC. I visit my momma there frequently and usually end up wandering into some random manhatten halls (where there so far hasn't been any good games going on). i would love to know where i could go and see some good shooting and get my ass kicked by some good players

Amsterdam Billiards on Amsterdam Avenue between 76 and 77 street probably has the largest concentration of pros and above average players at the moment.
I've heard the Master Billiards on Queens Boulevard at 39th street in Queens (15 minutes from Grand Central Station by subway) has been ripe with action but I hjaven't been there since I moved out of the neighborhood so I can't confirm.

Vahe is right, if you want to play good players Amsterdam is your place. If gambling is your thing, I hear Broadway Billiards always has something going on.
