You see, he's just the type of guy this game needs......somebody who can toss millions around just for fun.... maybe he would toss some cash in our direction.....

Well said, well said. I am totally agree with you. Looking at his shot, i can say it that it looks "fake". Yes, i do understand Busta did win.....but it is fair to other players in the same group if you allow that "P" guy to win more racks.....

Well this may or may not have happened. The only one who really knows is Busta. What harm happened here IF what the original poster said happened? Did anyone lose because of Bustamante's mediocre performance? If I were playing the Prince of Brunei, I too would not be able to play my best game. Do you know how rare it is for royalty to play in a sport like pool? The Prince could do great things for pool and if I were approached, I would not hesitate to show the Prince special and due consideration.

In fact, I have done similar things in other tournaments for both men and women letting up just a smidgeon. I respect the fact that people whose ability may not be up to my par but who have the balls to step up and risk embarassment and an ass-whipping in a pool tournament deserve to have special consideration. I like the idea that someone who knows they are not going to win this tournament but yet puts it on the line. Yes, I sometimes yield a little of my killer instinct and IT IS A SHOW OF RESPECT FOR SOMEONE, FAR BRAVER THAN MOST. Many people cower in fear when a tournament is even mentioned whether local, regional, national or inter-national. I commend the Prince for stepping up to the plate and hope we will see him again with improving perfomance.

If Busta actually did this, I have no problem with him. But who really knows what went on in Bustamante's mind or anyone elses? It may have looked like a miserable performance but he didn't lose, I hope his opponent had a good time and please have the tournament promoter tell me that he is angry with Busta's performance on any match including this one.

And as to the gigglers if there were any, SHAME on them.

Relax guys, let him win a few games and he might bankroll the next multi-million tour. he reminds me of the sheik from those Cannonball Run movies:D

he was a semifinalist at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games' 8-Ball doubles in Manila. Anyone know who his partner was?

> If I'm not mistaken, his dad offered 20 million to Janet Jackson for a date as a 16th birthday present, but was turned down when Janet questioned what exactly was to happen during the date,LOL. His dad was indeed the richest guy in the world befor Bill Gates blew up. I read an article where he was also said to be a fan and regular customer of Joss East. Tommy D.

if he took over the ipt.. no worries on no payments for any events. he's up there among the super rich in the world for sure. he's got a jumbo jet equipped with private cabin crew. some of the family members (cousins aunts uncles etc etc) come to singapore often for shopping and stuff. they close down whole shopping arcades just for them to shop for a day:eek:

and the story about janet jackson is true. a date and a "private" concert for the king... hmmm.... janet....(no icon for lusting look)

Kano, I agree with some of the posters here that you shouldn't publicly postulate on issues such as this....this could be a very politically sensitive topic. Pool being the greatest thing on earth is but our perspective, the perspective of die-hard pool players. This is a public forum after all, and bear in mind that Brunei is not the USA.

We have no proof that Busta dropped games, and he won anyhow.

I would say i disagree and agree with you. I think we have to see what level of game is that. Take for example, if too many racks were to be given to Pri, who know he might jump to 3rd place in which we dun know during the earlier part. 4th place u go home with nothing and 3rd placing you got 100US. US100 to Pri is small but to the other guy it might mean to cover air-ticket money to Philipine.
But if this is in the final, i do not really care. Cheers.;)

Someone Shake Me To See If I'm Awake

I've been to tournaments that had bookies in attendance and the line was set at a certain number. For example: in a race to 9 between two players, player #1 might be 5-2 not to win five games.
If Django was the prohibitive favorite, the 'line' might be that the Prince didn't get to 3 during their match. There may have been a bundle of oil money bet that the Prince could/would reach 3. So, dump 3, then win 8 and out.....

Personally, if I had Busta's skill, I would do anything in my power to embarrass any member of royalty. Royalty is a totally outdated concept and wasn't such a great idea before it was outdated. I would have like to have seen the prince totally humiliated and shaking like the rich guy who Fast Eddie smoked in 3-C in the "Hustler". I don't despise the rich as much as the royality except when they act like "the rich". Don't get me going...

Agreed.

I can't believe people think this is okay, why, because he's a prince? Because he's rich? Because he might throw a bone to pool players? Fuk him! This is the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS for christs sake!

If Busta was invited as a guest to his palace, then fine...make him feel good, return the hospitality. But this degree of flagrant asskissing should not be tolerated at this tournament, at ANY tournament. Flagrant asskissing should never be tolerated, under any circumstances! And I'm not just talking about Bustamante per se, obviously the entire tournament condoned and encouraged the illusion for the sake of his pride.

how are u going to prove that thoses missed shots and scratches were intentional?
The tournament is held in a Asian country. In the continent of Asia, yes all the way up to syria including the Arab countries,in general respect the authorities besides respecting each other ,unlike in western civilization. The tournament authorities decided to respect the prince.

Ah...a cultural explanation for brown nosing!

The continent of Asia?!?

Let's see...I'm Asian, I lived in Asia for 15 years, and asskissing is still asskissing, even in "The Continent of Asia."

Efren and Busta have been to the palace already during the Asean Games a few years back.
Efren said he gave the prince 12-3 in one-pocket and still robbed him.

An issue I have with his post is that the referee he seems to implicate is one of the very best referees in the game.

True Bob, she's been around for a while, and I like her accent. I also like your articles, some of them are pretty educational.

The word you chose to use to describe the players behavior is synonymous with the word `respecting`:D :D  :D :D
