Why do players dissapear when their match is called?

1st they complain about having to wait so long, and then they dissapear when the match is called.

If that is not enough, the player that does show up when his match is called complains that his opponent should be immediately put on 'the clock'. And then he walks off to do 'whatever' .

P.S. I usually wait 15 minutes for weekly and monthly tournaments before a forfiet is called. That IMO is 10 minutes more than necessary.. but these players did put up the $$$ to enter... to me that gives them 10 more minutes.
 
Just a guess, but since I know you're in California, they're probably outside smoking a cigarette! :D

On a serious note, after they get forfeited a few times, you won't have to worry about them disappearing anymore.

Charlie Williams used to disappear to the 'game room' and save the Earth from the alien invaders from space and he'd keep playing up until the last second. (or until he was EATEN or blown up) :)

Jam, there ain't no seeds any more and they seldom roll it up anymore.:rolleyes:
It's more likely cush in a piece these days.:D :D

Well, hell's bells, back in the day, it used to be 15 bucks an ounce, but the seeds added a lot of weight to the bag -- at least that is what I was told. :D

What's the cost today to get one without seeds? :confused:

No wonder the players are late for their matches. I mean, my God, that's like about $5 to $10 per toke. :o

The long wait times added with Coffee and beer usually caused me to have to go POOP. Oddly enough right before my match. :o

I will attempt to explain at least a small part of it. I may be one of those players that disappears, although not for 10 minutes.

When my match is called, I often run to the rest room really quickly. So someone might think I disappear when my match is called.

The reason that happens is so that I won't have to take a break in the middle of the match. I could use the restroom and wash my hands BEFORE my match is called, but I typically don't know when that will be. So I could end up just having to take a break during the match, which I'd generally rather avoid.

That said, it doesn't take me 15 minutes to get to my match, so I'm not necessarily defending the extreme lagging you're talking about.

I wonder if it would help to give a heads up before the match, such as "Joe and Bob, stay nearby. You're next up when a table opens". It's more of a PITA for the TD, and may be logistically impossible to give announce a specific amount of time before the match starts, but perhaps it would help a little; I don't know.
