Why Does Everyone Hate Cuetec!

I never hated a ct. I think maybe people try one and it's not been maintained well, they tend to get rough and sticky if you don't take good care of them. Nothing wrong with a Ct. Their old stuff was easy to break their newest stuff is real durable...

It's just one of the best excuses they can come up with.

"I hate ct" = "You were talking" both sound like good excuses...

Change of nickname, then?

Sounds like the type of nightmare I might have as the BCAPL Vegas events approach. We get to our first match, open up our cases and discover....... all our cues have been replaced by Cuetecs! Nooooooooooooo!!! :shocked2:

And then you'd have to have your nickname/moniker changed to:

[ ] Cuetecca?
[ ] Cuetecbacca?

Hmm... sounds like a poll is in the making... :D

I had a cuetec once. I didn't like it/ I still shoot with a fiberglass shaft on my scorpion. I just don't like fiberglass in general... If I had the money I'd move back to wood.

But that's why I'm saving up for a $400-$500 custom cue! My friends think I'm nuts, but they'll see. They will see...

There's just something about shooting with what feels like a model car that isn't pleasant to me.

But, in the end, it's the indian, not the arrow. As they say. Also, I'd rather shoot with a straight cuetec than a warped house cue.

Wow... this post was kinda all over the place.

Sorry... I just rambled.

I'm going to go with Cuetecacca, and maybe alter the spelling a little and add a special character in there.

[X] Cuetec=caca

:) :embarrassed2:

When I was opening a new pool room with two partners we opted to go with one-piece Cuetecs as our house cues. They were the best looking and best playing affordable one-piece cues in our opinion at the time.

Now, six years later, the same cues look and play great.

Two bars in my area also have one-piece Cuetec house cues. They're easily the best playing house cues around.

LOL.
This is always a funny topic to me.

I LOVE cuetec.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with them as a playing cue.

It's not the cue, but the player.

Now if your looking for a great playing cue that is also a TROPHY, or something that is going to have the pool room buzzing with the whole "look what THEY are playing with" and you absolutely need to buy a high end name cue to get the masses to worship you.
Then NO, cuetec is not the cue for you.

If your looking for a cue that screams out, I AM DA MAN!!!! when you take it out of the case, then no, cuetec is not for you.

If you are looking for a cue that is going to get all the pool groupies juices flowing when you whip it out and start stroking it because they THINK you are Da MAN...then no, cuetec is not for you.

But considering the price. vs playability. It's hard to beat.

Personally, i find them a little stiff, which is just the way i like ANY cue.
I slap on an elkmaster and i am off to the races.

The Cuetec i played with for a few years, has been replaced with a Dominiak cue that cost me $100, and the cuetec has become the break cue.

why you ask?

Simply because i missed the feel of wood between my fingers.
That in no way means that the cuetec sucked or was a total piece of junk. On the contrary, it did it's job, and it did it's job WELL.

Agreed. That's a cuetec I definitely like. My bar I regular has cuetec house cues and they are durable, straight, and well made. Unlike those house cue sneaky pete's are made to immitate. Lol. Cuetec house cues are kinda like Sneaky Pete scarecrows. This is true because some guy tried to hustle at the bar one time, but failed miserably because his cue looked nothing like the house cues. Not the mention how well maintained and shiny it was. Also, the signature on the forearm.

Not so sneaky after all, eh? lol.

I also used to own a Cuetec, the basic one with fiberglass-coated shaft and Earl Strickland's signature on the butt from around 10 years ago. No matter how hard I tried to like it, I kept going back to the warped house cue. :shakehead:

I don't like the way Cuetecs hit or how they feel in my hands. However, no matter what I or anyone says, if you like them then shoot with one. You get the last laugh by playing well with what feels good to you.

However, that doesn't stop me from laughing at Cuetecs.

I thought cuetec house cues were actually 2 piece cues...
Someone broke one in half awhile ago, and apparently the colored part(brown, green, or yellow depending on weight) and the shaft part are joined by a pin.

I don't hate them. They just aren't my kind of cue.
I like a little more flex in the shaft than CT offers.
I prefer the feel of wood to that of fiberglass.

Imagine the voice from Field of Dreams "if you play with it you will know!" It is because they hit like poopoo! Simple enough!

I don't hate them. I've just never been overly impressed by their cues. But they seem to sell them.

Sweet Marissa BUSTED!

BUSTED! Caught ya editing your posts, just like that poolhalltees.com thread! :p

So, Sweet Marissa, what domain name are you going to buy? "I'll take Cuetecpoolcues.com for $100, Alex!" :p

All in jest, of course,

I own both a Cuetec and a Scorpion cue and both of them are 21 oz. When I first bought my cuetec, I loved it, but now, it just doesn't feel right, and I'm not talking about the fiberglass shaft. When I pick both of them up, the cuetec feels MUCH heavier than the scorpion. It feels like there's just too much weight concentrated on the back of the butt. Not too long ago I played with the same shaft on both cues, and the scorpion just felt better to me (I played better with it as well); however, I do plan on saving some money and getting a 19 oz custom cue. But like a lot of people have been saying, if your cue feels right to you, and you shoot well with it, then play with it... forget what everyone else says and/or thinks.

I must admit I own one. But not because I bought it, but because Earl Strickland autographed it after the '98 Mosconi cup, and gave it to me. The following year, he told me that he wished he would have given me his other cue, because he loved the taper on the one he gave me. No he didn't get it back. He signed the shaft, so in order not rub it off, it has always been put away.

No I'm not going to buy a different shaft for it, because the shaft would be worth 3 times more than the cue itself. I personally do not care for cuetecs, but simply because of the way they play. I don't care for Meucci's either because it's like playing with a wet rag. That's not to say that someone else doesn't like them. They're still in business so they must be doing something right.

Still you can't argue with the elaborate point work on a cuetec!! Do you know how long it must take to stick those point stencil's on it?
