Hello
Noticed that in past few days the Main Forum http://forums.azbilliards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6 have been populated by accessories , cues, systems, technical mumbo jumbo and buyers and sellers. The Main Forum is usually about players, tournaments and any pool industry information /news. Of the 25 threads on 1st page now, I see only about 20%-30% are about players , tourneys and industry information. All these technical accessories threads only attract micro niche audience of handful of enthusiasts, technical yahoos and snake oil salesmen so should stick to sub forums. Threads on Main Forum should be more generic and attract broader appeal. Showing overload of techie threads on Main Forum will turn off potential newbie members as the Main Forum
So what happened to those regular posters on Main Forum? Were they purged ? Did Donald Trump fire them?
Or were they just turned off by these techie threads that dominate the main forum?

As a Spartan, you should be more Stoic about those things....
...or maybe we should start a thread that we would like to see......
.....you go first.

So you are the moderator?

I think PJ nailed it when he asked if you are the person to consult as to how to determine what to discuss here. The forum is a big place and pool is a big subject drawn up into lots of little technical areas that make it all work. Physics, Geometry, Stroke, Spin, Cue Diameter, Taper, End Mass, Weight, Cloth texture there are so many things and depending on how adept you are in the sport will depend on how much those things might matter to you. So seeing them as valid or invalid subjects for the Main Forum might be a litmus test in itself indicating where you are in your game. Simply put the commentary concerning pool events might not interest as many people as you think. Judging just from your comments you make statements denoting that the comments you like to see are in a minority. So why not relegate those type comments to a section of its own and stop polluting the Main Forum up with news about this player and that? So there are lots of ways to look at things and I understand your comment, your intention but the obvious end is to customize the forum to suit you. It might be possible that there are more people here than you and that other people merely scroll past what doesn't interest them and go on living and let live.

Let me get those bottles of Snake Oil ready.

It's based on astrological cycles.

I'd explain it, but it gets very technical :p

If a pool magazine comes up with 6 interesting articles per month I think it is doing ok. So if a pool forum comes up with 1 interesting thread per day, I think we're getting pretty good value for our time checking in.

Interesting is true

Colin,
This is so true and just for you, I've decided when I revise my book that I will do a version in Australian!

And here I was gonna start a thread in the main forum about satellite-guided cue ball positioning. Oh well, I guess that belongs in the aiming forum.

You're gonna have a real tough time finding a translator who can speak both languages. I have an Australian Shepherd who might be able to help you. So far, all he understands in American is "wanna eat?" and "wanna go out?", but we're working hard on "sit", "come", "lie down", and "leave me alone, you insane maniac". May be all you need in a book written for Aussies.

Put boob pics in it and it will sell down under!
