99 Critical Shots and Byrne's book were THE only books to buy when i started playing. everything else was crap.if you play pool or know people who do,
you have benefited from what he did
the tournament should be
on dr. dave’s table in colorado![]()
Don't forget "Mastering Pool" by George Fels, one of the best books ever written on pool, published 1977.99 Critical Shots and Byrne's book were THE only books to buy when i started playing. everything else was crap.
Oh yeah, i dogged it. The 'Big3' of pool books. As great as Mosconi was i found his book 'Winning PB's' way too hokey.Don't forget "Mastering Pool" by George Fels, one of the best books ever written on pool, published 1977.
He introduced and taught others to play better. I’d call that a benefit to the game.he wrote some great books and taught people, all for money.
i'm just asking, what did he do for the benefit of pool?
or did some benefit from what he did.
what a dickhead answer. a lot of players of my generation learned a lot from his writing. him making money is somehow bad??? Having a RB memorial would be great i just don't believe enough current generation players have a clue who he is or what his writing did for pool. obviously you don't.he wrote some great books and taught people, all for money.

Well his were the best, but the others weren't crap. There were still good points and things to be gained from a few of the other writers.99 Critical Shots and Byrne's book were THE only books to buy when i started playing. everything else was crap.
He did a lot for 3-cushion starting in about 1965. He was part of a group that organized an invitational tournament that brought Ceulemans and a bunch of other top players to San Francisco in 1966. Just after that they formed a 3-C organization (the BFUSA for those collecting acronyms), that got American players into the world tournaments..... did he do intentionally things beneficial for pool ....
