Why Look For A New Cue, When You Like The ONE U Have?

I feel like I can play about the same with virtually any cue. Personally, tips have a much larger impact on my game than cues do.

Well, I think there may be something to be gained in experimenting with weight, balance, length, shaft taper and tip hardness and type. I did this (over a few years period) and after dialing in exactly what I like in these options, I have stayed with my choice for seveal years. I have no desire to change anything, for me it is perfect! Also, I could care less what the cue looks like. I'm getting the hit and cue action I want with the shaft n taper n tip n tip hardness I have chosen.

I agree...I didn't "order" my cue...it was on the shelf..nice weight and balance that suited me...the shaft was way too fat...like a baseball bat...had him mill it straight down to about 11.75mm on the lathe, at no extra charge. Took it home and polished it with finer and finer grades of sandpaper...it fills the pores of the wood. 2000 grit is the finest i can get..."burnish" it and carry on. Slicker than snot. $300.

Even though it was off the shelf...I had the "Taylor" make the final inseam adjustments. Any cue I would look for now would pretty much be a copy of the one I already have.

I just have to disagree with this. I have several cues and can adjust to any of them in a few minutes and I can still play with a house cue. I don't like the LD shafts at all, but one can adjust to those also though it would take me longer than a few minutes but I can't imagine why I would ever shoot with an LD shaft unless a house cue wasn't available with a decent tip.

You would rather play with some beat bar cue even if there's a pristine Predator available? Whatever man :P I'm seeing the subtle signs of Irrational LD Shaft Hatred. It's a super common disease on AZ. You can spot the symptoms easily. The first sign is when someone brings up how much they dislike LD shafts in a thread that isn't about shafts.

So anyway, back on track.

I can't imagine why anyone would shoot with several playing cues when one will do the job nicely! Sure, you can play with any cue you pick up. Me too. But will you play your BEST pool or just 'average'?

I think with the exact same weight, tip hardness, 'feel', etc., will allow you to gradually fine tune your feel for cue ball position. If I switch from an 18 oz custom to a 21 oz bar cue, I'm going to overrun shape at some point, even though I swung my arm exactly the same way I usually do.

You are an SPF instructor, you probably already teach students to try to do everything exactly the same way every time. That builds consistently. Wouldn't you be sort of sabotaging that if you taught them it's ok to switch between different cues all the time?

I like different cues. I have more than one car but I can only drive one at a time...

Love the one you're with" --Stephen Stills

I have found the one that makes me happy so I have quit looking.
