Why no Olivier love?

I was kinda wondering this to myself after flipping through the For Sale forum a bit. I mean, I see cues out there by cuemakers that I've never heard of before I came here, and they're at the very least getting nibbled at. Next to that, I see threads selling some decent JOs with nothing but bump posts. Is there something that everyone but me knows? I know his cue designs can be a little less than traditional (hell, I can admit some are flat out ugly), but is there a real playability or aftermarket problem that keeps people from buying his cues?

It seems to me that at this point in his career, Jerry Olivier should have garnered a bit more support than is being shown. Like I said, if there's something that just drives people away, that's one thing. I'm just wondering why I haven't heard much, either positive OR negative.

Who knows. There are plenty good and really good cue makers that don't get the recognition they richly deserve.

I don't see much talk about Blackcreek and Nitti. There for a while they were the new hot makers. Now you just don't hear their names anymore.

Just kidding- hell they're are a lot of good cue makers that are'nt getting love... My friend DJKeys cant move his Capone.

Cant comment too much on JO's work I know only 2 people in my area that play with his cues. Dont know if Im a cue snob but when ever at the BCA (Vegas) I always seem to overlook his (JO) booth and head straight to Joe Salazar's to take a peek at all the Mottey's, Tasc, Szam, RC3 etc...

As for playability, JO's cues have a non-traditional taper. They are slightly thicker than commonly found in the market. He only supplies one type joint, 3/8-10 wood. These are a couple things that may limit his customer base.

Personally, I shoot with an Olivier. After adjusting to the taper and hit, I love it. It would take much convincing for me to change to another joint now.

Other than my first points, it's preference and supply v. demand as to why JO cues receive the moderate amount of attention that they do. BTW, Jerry is a nice guy and very easy to deal with.

J.O cues play great, and when put in the right hands have won many majors, US Open with Jeremy, Glass City with Hillbilly and serveral others.

It seems to me that at this point in his career, Jerry Olivier should have garnered a bit more support than is being shown.

I would like to see Jerry get a little more attention, but as posted above theres alot of great cue makers out there that are not getting the love they deserve.

Those are good comparisons... Especially JO and Blud... very similar hits and quality...

SE cues(Nat Green) don't quite compare IMO

I'm on my 3rd Olivier cue. I have loved everyone...I bought this latest one in May at BCA in Vegas...Caught my eye and fell in love with it. His prices are really reasonable for the quality of his cues. They also hit great...Like a Blud or Coker...My wife has been playing with Olivier for 3 years now and won't switch or trade or get rid of it for any amount of money...
My avatar is the one I am playing with now...I just finished league and had my highest finish in years...Came in 10th out of 104 players using the new Olivier...
Jerry is also a really nice guy who will talk with you and deal with you if you ask...
For my 2 cents worth I think they are great cues for the money....
