Why not Shane vs Lee Van Corteza

This is definitely true, on Shanes most recent trip to the phillipines he gambles with 7 of the top players there and beat all of them.

I think Corteza is the best the Phillipines has. Shane has a losing record against him and a long race to 100 would really be something to watch. Shane would destroy Dennis.

Can I get more validation before I believe this? Were you there? Beating has many meanings you know.

I was talking with a Pinoy buddy over the weekend and he told me that Dennis O is at the top of the top tier in PI right now.

Ok... So lets try to make a complete list of who SVB beat in PI.

1. Ronnie Alcano
2. Carlo Biado
3. Roberto Gomez
4. Jeff DeLuna
5.
6.
7.

Who can fill in the blanks? Maybe I put in a call to Jay H and check with him.

I have seen all those guys play when I was in Pi, ALL can play unbelievable.

Shane has beat LeeVan a few different times actually, both 10 ball and 9 ball. He lost to him 9 8 in the 2010 us open 10 ball (even though he eventually won the tournament). Like someone else said, I dont really think LeeVan wants any. Shane is the master of these long races.

Lee Van has also beaten Shane more than once, for the cash. Not saying Shane wouldn't/couldn't take it down, but if anyone would want some, I'd bet it would be LeeVan. People keep going on about Orcullo being the best match, but like others here have mentioned, Orcullo got drilled by Yang..TWICE.. both in long races. If anyone deserves the shot, it's Yang at the moment.

We need Jay Helfert in the thread, he was there and saw it go down. He talked about it a few times durring the streaming of TAR 21

I spoke with Dennis and he will play anyone on his home turf. It's not easy for the those pinoys to just come to the US and play a long set, especially for some serious cash. Keep in mind he pretty much has unlimited backers in Manila. When I spoke with him, one of his backers is Manny Pacquaio, so if Shane wants to bet high, tell him to bring as much as he wants.

Of course. Who doesn't want to play on their home turf? There is no problem for Dennis to travel he has been to the USA several times.

Tell Dennis to bring his backer to lv and they can bet as high as they want to. Let's see the first million dollar tar match.

Shane has gone to you many times already.

He ain't scared. Dennis is though.

Agreed! Have Shane and Orcullo play around the US open.

Dennis has come to the US several times, yes. However they were for tournament purposes and sponsors usually pay for all those expenses. I was at One Side in Mabini and I heard from the mouth of Shane that yes he would gamble in Manila, but not big bc his backers are in the US. Just like Dennis, his backers are in Manila and tell me how they would come here? It's easier to go to Manila than if you're a US citizen than it is to go to the US if you're a citizen of the Philippines. Dennis fears no one. Words from his mouth. Not mine. When Bustamante asked shane to play at one side in mabini, shane responded "I can't beat you. " I was there.

Isnt that what every pool player says to their potential opponent when they are trying to stir up action?

God knows I do lol.

I'm a big fan of Shane's and glad he won but let's not get carried away saying nonsense such as the pinoys might not have a chance or would have none of Shane. If I remember correcty, Jay once said that for as long as Shane has been gambling against the pinoys, he has a losing record against them.

But a TAR match between Shane and any of the top pinoy would be cracking for sure. Get it done Justin!

Until something happens...everything is just speculation.

Orcullo is on top of the Filipino Food Chain

Yang defeated Orcullo twice in Races to 60

Shane is the most formidable U.S. Player in the country and arguably the best pool player in long races of 10 ball in the world.

Lee Van has not played any of the above players in a televised long race set. So it's difficult to determine where he lies...

The debate will continue...until something is set up..hopefully by TAR. Just thank your blessings for Justin (TAR crew) and ....and for SVB to keep pool alive in the states.

I would Love to see Shane vs Parica but the only problem with that match is with Parica's slow play a race to 100 might take 2 years and thats without any dinner breaks:thumbup:

Apparently Shane beat 7 Pinoys recently. Any list of who he actually played?

Ronnie Alcano (three times), Jeff De Luna, Roberto Gomez (twice) and Carlo Biado (the rising star over there). He was seven for seven on that trip in April!

That all changed this year, when he went 7-0. Still no match with Dennis. He's the last guy Shane wants to play for obvious reasons. But I can see it happening sometime soon.
